Red and I decided we had to remove Badges from WFW today.
Badges were a fun way to compete with your fellow users. You would get to see who would get the most badges and points on the wikia. It was enjoyable and interesting.
But users abused this privledge. We had people doing "one-word edits", which means you only add on a word or sentence to your story for Badge points. We had people constantly categorizing stories with categories that didn't even belong to you or that shouldn't even be categories. We had people uploading over 50 pictures to stories (pictures that didn't even belong to them) just for Badges.
We've warned you guys before not to abuse these rights. I hate that a few users (yes, it was more than one user. We've warned several users not to do this since we've added Badges) have to ruin this fun concept for you guys, but it had to be done.
I don't like people just editing to get Badges. I don't like how the wikia was spammed with this stuff just for Badges.
I don't know if Badges ever will return, but currently the are gone. Hopefully this teaches some of you guys a lesson about listening to our warnings.
