Hello everybody! While writing the title of this blog, I thought that I'd make myself happy and then make myself sad. Well, I've changed my mind. The depressing news comes first, followed by the cheerful.

So. Why won't this Christmas be disappointing? Here's a list of reasons;

  • We don't get to do our traditional Tesco outing. For some reason, even though we all complain about having to go to the supermarket on Christmas Eve all the way around the shop, I've grown to like this little trip out. I think I'm going to have to spend all night coming up with something that we don't have but need for tomorrow. Either that or I'm going to have to drink ridiculous amounts of milk.
  • There's no snow! This will be my first Christmas that isn't white! No!!!!
  • Do you know what we'll have instead of snow? Sun. We never get sun in Scotland. So how come it's suddenly sunny and 15 blooming degrees (32 in Fahrenheit) in the middle of December?! On the one day that we don't want the heat? Grrr...
  • I won't get to see my Uncle for Christmas dinner on Sunday.
  • My Granny Moir is in hospital. Her kidneys are failing/have failed and she has some sort of fluid in her lungs. My Grannie and Grandad went to visit her the other day but there are still no signs that she's getting better. So I won't get to see her for Christmas either.
  • This is the worst reason. My Grandma has decided not to make her chestnut stuffing this year. Aaaah! It's not Christmas without the annual Boxing Day fight over who gets the last of the stuffing! She better make twice the usual amount of sticky toffee pudding this year...

Wow. I think I've turned into my Dad. Why am I suddenly so angry, pessimistic and weather-obsessed?

Moving on...

Today was an Occasional Day holiday! So I didn't have to go to school! And on Monday it's the beginning of the Christmas holidays, so I won't have to return for another two weeks! Hooray! Although I do have History homework. You know; I love that subject and I love my teacher but I hate that fact that he always gives us homework over the holidays! He doesn't seem to give us homework at any other time - and if he does, it's not very much - but then he goes and dumps a huge load on us when we get a couple of days off, meaning that I spend all of the spare time that I'm getting doing that homework! I think I'd actually prefer it if he started to give us regular bundles of homework during the terms and just have none during the holidays.

Hey - I think that's actually all of my news!

As for inspiration; I watched Lost Christmas today. It's the most depressing Christmas movie ever. I cried the whole way through it. But it's really, really cool! It's all completely random, but it ties up nicely at the end. Plus, it has Eddie Izzard in it!

Anyway, it has given me some really good ideas for a story. It's really hard to explain the plot but I'll give it a go. There's this main big event and lots of smaller stories stringing off of it. The main point is when the boy, Goose, hides his Dad's car keys. This mistake leads to his parent's death, the death of a little girl and a family breaking apart. When he's older, he turns into this really dodgy thief. When he's released from prison, you see him sitting under a bridge with a couple of other guys. It's snowing and the young man beside him is shivering in his really thing jacket. So Goose takes of his thick coat and swaps it with the young man. During the night, he freezes to death. But because of this one act of human kindness, he is granted a second chance. You see the younger Goose waking up on the Christmas Eve that he hides his Dad's car keys. Except, because he seems able to remember what had happened, he doesn't steal them. The Dad, because he's not running late, takes the longer route and isn't hit by the lorry and he's able to rescue the little girl on the ice. His friend isn't the one rescuing the girl, so he isn't blamed for her death and he doesn't get into lots of debt, meaning that his wife doesn't split up with him.

There's a lot more to it than that and it's a lot more confusing.

But go and check it out for yourselves! It's on BBC iPlayer!
