Not too long ago passed since I finished the legendary The Last Hope.
Idk I just thought why not to do a little rant?
So, let me start off with its length. This book was extremely underrated. For the so called last book of warriors it was very short. I mean, all of us knew that the series is going to end with something epic. It all started in so far behind as Starlight, where Tigerstar first appeared (I hope I remember it right).
Even Tiger vs Fire was building since Into the Wild. I find it incredible how underrated it all was.
Another thing is the pov. I mean, why the heck Dovewing [read: Dovewhine]! Come on. Why such disliked, bland, poorly written, sue-ish character (and also backstabbing)?
Probably for what you were all waiting for, Spottedleaf's death. Like I don't bring this up because I'm her fan - which I am - but because it's absolutely senseless.
So far as my research went, minimum of people were all "YAY". Most haters just shrugged over it, and few of them were even upset and/or cried. Not to mention all of those Spottedleaf fans who made their house flood (I personally was hardly struck by this and I still sometimes cry about it).
The thing is the reason. I mean, that is so freaking dumb. So she died so the biggest love triangle of the series was solved? Wtf?
So first of all, I get that it is the biggest love triangle of warriors, but what about others?
Does that mean that Silverstream is gonna die? Feathertail? Honeyfern? Bright Stream? Storm? Sandgorse? I can go on and on. The answer is no.
And that's not the only senseless thing about it. Why did she have to fade? I mean she could've lost interest in Firestar or find a nice StarClan tom but no, she had to die straight away.
Not only that, but they hardly had any development. I mean Spottedleaf a d Firestar. So why this?
Of all stupid things you've ever done Erins, this is the stupidest.
Where did she gi anyways? Now, please refrain from telling me that she faded into nothingness forever. She must be somewhere. Soul is matter. Fading forever means that her soul was destroyed, but soul is matter and you can't destroy matter.
Now don't tell me that it's fantasy series. I get it. But this is different. Like, very different. It's physics and those must be followed no matter what. She is somewhere. Even if she is lurking in the dark with no end, she is somewhere.
And why only her? Come on. If you kill a character for particular (and dumb) reason, kill some more characters. Not only her.
Probably the worst part is that both Sandstorm and Mapleshade survived it. I mean, Firestar was alone in StarClan and Sandstorm was still living, they both don't spend a night not thinking about each other. How much sense does that make?
And Mapleshade. I mean, ignoring her past, she trained Tigerstar, ruined Crookedstar's life and killed Spottedleaf and now with all that she gets away with it? I mean that is crossing some serious lines. Not speaking about the fact that if Ashfur is in StarClan, she shoudl be too.
My brain is just not able to understand this pile of bulls**t.
