Here are the results for my commenting contest, and I'll tell you my thoughts about it. I'd like people to read it and comment, but I suppose it's alright if no one does.
Before I give the results, I will remind everyone that the contest was an attempt to promote constructive comments. A lot of you have been telling me that "I'm bad at commenting". Well guess what, no matter HOW BAD you are, your comments mean A LOT to the author! Constructive comments aren't hard, you just need to work to achieve the comment you want.
So yes, I believe there's no excuse not make comments.

My thoughts[]
Now here's what I got from the contest and what I really though happened. (this happens every time I do something fun, I'll be honest)
I had a lot of people sign up and literally just forget they signed up. They didn't comment, they didn't earn anything.
I got really frustrated and realized this commenting problem probably can't be solved. I wanted to give it a try and I thought this contest would work.
Apparently not really.
I'll be honest, this is my rant and just my opinion on this problem. So many of you complain that you're too lazy to comment. Here's what I think when someone tells me that. 1) I think my story isn't good enough so you don't want to take your time to comment. 2) you don't care enough to comment and I know I couldn't impress you with my writing.
You can help authors with your comments, no matter how bad, how lazy you are. Another thing I get is you don't know how.
Here, I'll teach you now.
Constructive comments are comments that give feedback to the author. I'll give you two examples, one is constructive and one is not.
Constructive comments: I thought this character was developed really well, and I thought you could add a bit more personality to (character). The writing was very smooth, however you used too much dialogue and didn't explain much in (this part). I thought you could do better by...
Not constructive: I LOVE IT! DO MORE!
See the difference? Even ONE LINE of constructive comments is fine! You don't need to write fifty paragraphs to be constructive. It's not hard, it's not even too much work.
Laziness is not an excuse.
Now back to the contest. I thought it was a big flop, and I continue to encourage everyone to comment. Honestly, I always get motivated to write when I get comments. If you guys remember Spy Torture I only wrote that because I got comments. Then I stopped getting comments and it was stupid writing it. So I stopped. I only write Cold because I have Brighty (thank the world for her) and Wetty (she's getting there).
About the list. I forgot about this the last time I was writing this, but nobody really got to that list. Blayde gave me a suggestion about the list, and I'll be honest I thought the list failed terribly because nobody really commented on those stories. Most of you guys just commented on your friend's stories because they're your friends and that's all you do. That wasn't the point of the contest but I guess you did learn to be constructive.
I'm just gonna say this again, please keep commenting and don't just comment on your 'friends stories. Other people's stories count too. Brighty and Wetty never get comments on their stories. Come on, they write freaking GOOD stories. Of course none of you know that if you've never bothered to read their stories. I'd also like a few people to try reading my fics. I didn't put any of my stories except Cold on the reading list, and nobody bothered.
So please read other people's stories too. Some of them are good you know?
Anyways if you feel like I'm yelling at you all, I'm not. I'm just annoyed at how this turned out.
I don't know if I should host another contest again. I always get really mad that nobody does anything and I can't get the message across. But here's a poll to decide. (or two) (or more)
