After looking around the wiki, I spotted a few contests, and I wanted to do one of my own.

If you would like to join, please do so, but read on before joining.

Basic Information[]

This is a poetry contest by Silver.

The objective is to write a poem describing a cat's feelings (see more below).

You will be graded on certain elements seen below.

This is all for fun, so don't get upset if you lose!

Everyone gets a prize.

There can be an infinite number of contestants, so feel free to join!

Host[]

Silver/Me!

Other Judges:[]

Rules[]

It must be a poem, with no OC's. Any other form of writing will not be counted.

It must be at least two stanzas. I would just like to read more than two short lines.

No more than nine stanzas. Each stanza may be a maximum of six lines.

It must be based off a cat's feelings. These feelings can be about love, friendship, adventure, sorrow, etc. I really like poems describing cats and how they feel, so that's the topic of my poetry contest.

It must follow all other wiki guidelines.

Be good sports and don't whine about your score c:

Scoring[]

The highest possible score is 25/25, or 100%.

  • GRAMMAR, SPELLING - 3 pts (12%)
    • Proper writing skills should be put into this, so it should be easier to read.
  • UNIQUENESS - 5 pts (20%)
    • Try to think of different ideas. Don't do see one about Leafpool and her heartbreak and then do one about Crowfeather and his heartbreak with the exact same style. You may write about those characters, but keep this different and show off your ideas.
    • Use new ideas. You may look back at other poems and get ideas, but try to keep things fresh and new.
  • CREATIVITY - 10 pts (40%)
    • Let you shine through this poem! Your ideas, thougts, and words will have a huge impact on your score.
    • Don't be afraid to try new things. Your creativity counts, and don't forget that!
  • FLOW - 3 pts (12%)
    • Keep the poem smooth, and easy to follow. Yes, I am a culprit of this...
    • Stay on one main idea. If you skip from, "His heart broke," and then started the next line, "He liked tp hunt," it confuses the reader.
  • IDEA - 4 pts (16%)
    • Sort of in the creativity category, but still. Have an idea that you can get across to the reader easily. If your poem is supposed to convey the feeling of not knowing, show that in your words.

The deadline is October 12th, or four weeks to complete and enter your poem. Any poems that have not been completed in this deadline or have been entered will not be judged. If you do not have a good reason of why it is not entered in the comments or finished over the course of three weeks, your poem will not be judged.

Make sure you do the following if you would like your poem to be judged.

  • Enter in the comments section below, answering the required questions. I suggest you do this first, because you won't have to worry about doing it later.
  • Finish your poem by October 5 on the UTC time of 23:59:59. Any edits made after that will not be judged, so do not expect grammatical errors corrected after the deadline to be scored.

Have fun writing in this poetry contest! I look forward to seeing your poems.
