Introduction[]
"Seven shall come to lead our clans to great victories"
Flamekit opened her eyes to see several cats standing above her. "Hello" a peach tabby said to her "I am Tabbystar, the leader of Flameclan." she finished.
"And who am I" Flamekit mewed curiously to Tabbystar.
"Your special" Tabbystar mewed back.
"Is she the one?" a younger grey tom asks to Tabbystar.
"She is the one, the one who shall someday lead the clan according to the prophecy" Tabbystar answered. Flamekit nudged Autumnkit and Goldenkit. "Lets go outside of the nursery" she mewed.
Chapter 1 : The Day Blood Spills[]
"Flamekit, Autumnkit, and Goldenkit you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Flamepaw, Autumnpaw, and Goldenpaw. Flamepaw, your mentor will be Ashtail, Goldenpaw, your mentor will be Soiltail, and Autumnpaw you have chosen to train as medicine cat, your mentor will be Viperfang. I hope Ashtail, Soilatil, and Viperfang will pass down all they know on to you." Tabbystar mewed to the clan.
"Ashtail, Soiltail, Viperfang, you are all ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from your mentors, and you have shown yourself to be strong and skilled. You will be the mentors of Flamepaw, Aumtumnpaw, and Goldenpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to them." Tabbystar meowed loudly.
"Now lets head out on a patrol" Ashtail meowed to Flamepaw as Soiltail and Viperfang walked off with their apprentices.
They walked to the Darkclan border making sure that no cat had tress passed on their territory. "We are checking here rather than the Waveclan border because Darkclan cats have always been shady characters. That is why they live in The Great Cave, they can hide and their eyes have adjusted to the darkness, although there is not much prey. According to Vinestar, Darkclan cats have been stealing prey from their mountain which is located above their cave. We might just find evidence" Ashtail meowed as they walked.
Flamepaw started tasting the air for prey, then she scented a strange scent. "Ashtail, whats that scent coming from over there?" Flamepaw asked curiously.
Ashtail started tasting the air for any scent, then he smelled it to. "Flamepaw, good catch, that is the scent of Darkclan. They live mostly of of rats not mice making their scent very distinctive. That is the smell of Darkclan cats." Ashtail explained to Flamepaw.
They leapt through the grass and caught three Darkclan cats with a snake and mouse in their mouths. Then from behind more grass and tall red cat appeared. The cat meowed "So you have found my warriors, well I will make sure you can't get back to tell anyone about it."
Flamepaw ran back to camp for help. "You will never get past our warriors!" Ashtail hissed back.
"So some little kitty wants to challenge Redstar" Redstar laughed at Ashtail. Back at camp Flamepaw gathered Needleclaw, Frostheart, and Cloudheart to fight Redstar. They ran out to the border to see Redstar hissing at Ashtail and one of Darkclan's warriors laying on the ground with a slash across his neck. Cloudheart leapt at Redstar and landed in front of him. They watched as Flamepaw's father was brutally slain. After that the cats ran back to camp and reported to Tabbystar. "Umm... Tabbystar" Needleclaw meowed quietly.
"If this is about prey or anything else leave!" Tabbystar meowed grumpily.
"Well Flamepaw and Ashtail found Darkclan tress passing on our territory, and in the battle Cloudheart was slain" Frostheart meowed quietly to Tabbystar.
Chapter 2: Shadows in the Trees[]
Tabbystar stood there silently and went back to her den. When it was Star-sky (moon high) Tabbystar called a meeting to the clan. "As you know our old deputy, Cloudheart, has passed away. By tradition I must chose a new deputy" Tabbystar meowed with a hint of sadness in her voice.
Flamepaw curled her tail around her body waiting for Tabbystar to tell the clan her crazy choice. "May Moonclan hear and approve my choice. The next deputy of Flameclan will be Ashtail!" Tabbystar meowed to clan.
Flamepaw stared, astonished, at the new deputy. After everyone had left back to their dens Flamepaw licked Ashtail's should respectfully and walked to the apprentice den to sleep. In the morning on the way out to hunt Flamepaw kept asking the same question, "What is it like to be deputy?", over and over and over again.
Then Ashtail caught scent of prey. They stalked the mouse scent. When they passed bellow The Great Old Oak they heard a sound, like something slipping on the branches. Flamepaw asked "What was that?"
"Most likely a squirrel or something" Ashtail answered.
"It sounded kind of like a cat, can we at least check it out?" Flamepaw asked.
"No, we are here for hunting, not exploring old trees come on Flamepaw" Ashtail meowed.
Flamepaw finally picked up on a scent. "I will show you how to do this" Ashtail meowed as he started to stalk the mouse.
"First you creep up on it, then you lower your body to the ground and even out your weight on all for legs. Next you gather your strength in your hind legs and pounce on the mouse." Ashtail explained to Flamepaw.
After they caught some prey they went back to camp. An hour later Flamepaw went looking for Ashtail to see if they could investigate the trees. With no luck finding him in camp she started searching around Flameclan territory. Back at camp Flamepaw picked up on some rumor that a Princess Kitty (kittypet) was going to join the clan. She thought to herself "Maybe that is why I can't find Ashtail."
Chapter 3 : New Members, New Secrets[]
In the morning Flamepaw awoke to a clan meeting. "As you may have heard a once princess kitty has decided to join the clan, we trust that this cat can become just as good as a warrior as all of you out there. Please welcome Lilly" Tabbystar meowed to the clan.
"A princess kitty can never become a clan cat! I don't even thing my brother Tunnelpaw can be a clan cat" Tornadopaw spat.
Frostheart walked up and corrected her apprentice. "May I go on?" Tabbystar asked Tornadopaw.
"Yes" Tornadopaw meowed grumpily.
"Lilly is still too young to become an apprentice, she will start her clan life as Lillykit, welcome to the clan Lillykit" Tabbystar meowed proudly.
Before Tabbystar finished Flamepaw saw Ashtail sneaking out of camp. Flamepaw followed silently until he stopped at the river. Then, a grey cat crossed the river and licked Ashtail. Flamepaw jumped out from behind the bushes and yelled "What are you doing here!?" to Ashtail.
Flamepaw heard the grey cat whisper "I thought you made sure no one followed you here" to Ashtail.
Ashtail replied "I did, she must have found me."
"By the way I am Waveclaw, the Waveclan cat destined to lead Waveclan." Waveclaw said to Flamepaw.
Suddenly they heard a yowl from the Darkclan border. They rushed over to see what had happened, to find Tabbystar lying on the ground with a slash through her neck. Ashtail stood in horror at the dead body of his leader with Flamepaw beside him. They heard a sneer, when Flamepaw looked through the bushes she found Redstar ready to pounce. Flamepaw snuck up on Redstar but tripped.
"Aha!" Redstar yelled as he turned around.
Flamepaw started to run, but remembered what he had done to her father. She turned around and tried to leap onto his back. Redstar slashed her muzzle but Flamepaw held tight onto his back. She crawled forward on the giant cat's back and Ashtail swiped his neck. When they got back to camp news spread that Flamepaw killed Redstar. That night Ashtail made his journey to the moonstone to get his nine lives.
When Flamepaw woke, she asked Ashstar to take her on a patrol. Ashstar told her no and then climbed the highrock. "As you know, yesterday Flamepaw killed the dreaded leader of Darkclan. I would like to honor her by making her a warrior! May Moonclan look down on this apprentice, she has trained very" Ashstar was saying before being interrupted.
"No she has not! She has only been an apprentice for what? Three or four days?" Tornadopaw spat.
"I believe Flamepaw will make a great warrior, now don't interrupt your leader. As I was saying she has trained very hard to understand what being a warrior is. From now on Flamepaw will be known as Flamepelt!" Ashstar meowed proudly. After Ashstar sent out the patrol, Flamepelt, who was still at camp, saw Ashstar walking outside of camp again. She followed him again, and he took the same path as yesterday, not wanting to get in on personal business she went to patrol the Darkclan border. While walking along the border she heard the rustling of grass some way behind her. Flamepelt turned around to see a small black kit running in fear from Darkclan. "Who are you, and why are you on our territory" Flamepelt meowed to the young kit.
"Help, please help, Darkclan is trying to raid your camp using kits to young to be apprentices! Help me!" the black kit meowed to Flamepelt.
"Follow me to camp, we will get Ashstar" Flamepelt meowed as they ran to camp. Back at camp they could not find Ashstar.
"I know where he is, you stay here" Flamepelt meowed to the black kit.
"Oh and what is your name?" Flamepelt meowed half way out of camp.
"Blackkit" Blackkit replied. Flamepelt ran into the forest to find Ashstar returning from where ever he was.
Chapter 4 : Snow Falling[]
When Ashstar got back to camp the news about Blackkit had traveled around the camp. Ashstar took one look at the kit and knew that he would be fine to have in Flameclan, anyways they needed more warriors. "Flameclan, as you know Flamepelt found Blackkit running from Darkclan, I have decided that he will join Flameclan. Another thing is that I must chose a deputy. May Moonclan hear and approve my choice. Our new deputy will be Bristleclaw." Ashstar told the clan.
"There is also a gathering that is being held tonight, Flamepelt, Needleclaw, Marshheart, and Rockysoul will be attending the gathering." Ashstar meowed. The warriors headed out to Seven Stones (gathering place), when they got there Ashstar, instead of climbing up one of the stones, went to talk to Waveclaw. "Ashstar what are you doing? You should be getting ready to start the gathering!" Bristleclaw meowed.
"It is no where near star-sky, I have time to talk" Ashstar meowed back.
As Ashstar said that the other leaders were climbing their great-stone. "Ashstar the gathering is starting RIGHT NOW!" Marshheart meowed to his leader.
"Fine" Ashstar said as he climbed his great-stone.
"I will go first, I speak for all of Darkclan. One of our kits, Blackkit, has run away. We do not know where he is or why he ran away, if any cat sees a small black kit please return them to Darkclan" Missingstar meowed to the cats.
"Now I will go, I speak for all of Dustclan. We have no more water, the small creeks have all dried up. We wish to borrow water from Waveclan. Several of our kits including Skykit, Burnkit, Treekit, Graykit, and Frostkit have died from thirst, we do not wish to lose more cats" Nettlestar meowed sadly.
"I grant you permission to drink from our rivers" Foxstar meowed.
"We thank Waveclan for helping us" Nettlestar meowed back.
"Now I will speak for Flameclan. Darkclan, we have your kit, Blackkit, and he says that he wishes to be with Flameclan rather than Darkclan. We hope you know that taking Blackkit back would cause many problems." Ashstar meowed the Darkclan cats.
"Fine. You may keep Blackkit, although tomorrow Blackkit will become an apprentice." Missingstar meowed to Ashstar.
"Thank you Missingstar" Ashstar replied.
"Does anyone else wish to speak?" Hollystar meowed.
"Ok then, the gathering is dismissed" Ashstar meowed.
"Wait, has anyone seen Berrystar from Snowclan?" Hollystar asked.
The cats all walked back to camp to go to sleep. In this morning Ashstar called a meeting to make Blackkit an apprentice. "As many of you know Blackkit has reached the age of six moons. He is now old enough to become an apprentice. From this day on until he earns his warrior name Blackkit shall be known as Blackpaw! His mentor will be Flamepelt. Flamepelt, you are ready to train an apprentice I trust that you will pass on the knowledge that I have given you to your apprentice." Ashstar meowed to the clan.
Flamepelt walked up and touched noses with her new apprentice. They made a patrol with Needleclaw and went out hunting. "Ok Blackpaw, I will teach you the hunters crouch. First you drop low to the ground like this, then you even out your weight on all four paws, then you ummm... what next Needleclaw?" Flamepelt meowed.
"Next you gather your strength in your hind legs and pounce." Needleclaw answered
"ok" Blackpaw replied.
Chapter 5 : Secrets That Must Be Kept[]
When they returned to camp Ashstar was calling a meeting to the clan. "We have another kit who has reached the age of six moons, Ravenkit. From this day on until he earns his warrior name he shall be known as Ravenpaw!" Ashstar meowed loudly to the clan.
"What about me? I am his sister!" Thornkit meowed.
"As Viperfang has told, Thorns of war will destroy the clans, we can't risk having that happen. Now go back to the nursery where you can be watched." Ashstar meowed to Thornkit cruelly.
Flamepelt walked up to Ashstar and said "I don't think it is Thornkit the prophecy is talking about. Maybe next time you can be nicer."
At dusk Flamepelt and Blackpaw sat at the edge of a ravine watching the sunset. In the morning Flamepelt and Blackpaw went out on a border patrol to the Waveclan border to see if they could find Ashstar. Ashstar was at the Waveclan border, but not with Waveclaw like last time. Now there were two little kits a Russian blue kit and a white kit with black spots. Blackpaw walked out from behind the bushes and asked "Who are those kits?"
"Oh, these kits, they were abandoned so now we are taking them to Flameclan" Ashstar replied.
"We'll help you carry 'em back right Flamepelt!" Blackpaw exclaimed.
"Umm... Ok, why not" Flamepelt answered.
The three carried them back to camp and set them in the nursery where Stonetail could take care of them. Flamepelt and Blackpaw went out to hunt. "Remember you crouch down low and even out your weight on all four feet, you gather your stren..." Flamepelt tried to say.
"I know I know I know" Blackpaw interrupted.
"Ok then, catch us a mouse and I will know you know" Flamepelt replied.
"Fine" Blackpaw answered.
Blackpaw crouched down and pounced on a mouse. "See, I know" Blackpaw exclaimed proudly.
"Ok, you do know. Now we need to catch more mice" Flamepelt meowed.
Flamepelt was focusing on catching a mouse when Blackpaw screamed. "What is it! You just scarred my mouse away!" Flamepelt hissed.
"They are here, they are coming for me! Help! Darkclan is coming for me!" Blackpaw meowed in fear.
"Oh no. Come on and follow me we are going back to camp where you will be safe lets go!" Flamepelt replied in fear for her apprentice.
Back at camp Flamepelt told Ashstar about what happened in the forest. When she was still explaining she heard a sharp cry of a cat. They ran outside the den to see Darkclan cats, including Missingstar, slashing at Pinepaw. Flamepelt leapt at Hissingfur and landed in front of him. Hissingfur slashed at her eyes but missed. Flamepelt bit down hard into Hissingfur's ear. "Yeeeeoooowwwwww" Hissingfur cried as he ran off without part of his ear.
Flamepelt spat out the missing part of Hissingfur's ear and ran over to Pinepaw. She grabbed him by his scruff and set him down in the medicine cat's den. "I will take care of him" Autumnpaw meowed as she grabbed some cobwebs. Flamepelt walked out the medicine cat's den and everything was over. Then she saw Ashstar climbing the highrock.
"Today our cats fought hard, but one apprentice especially. Goldenpaw fought very well I would like to honor her by making her a warrior! May Moonclan look down on this apprentice, she has trained hard to understand what being a warrior is. From this day on Goldenpaw shall be known as Goldentail!" Ashtail meowed.
Chapter 6 : The Journey Begins[]
After the warrior ceremony Ashstar walked up to Flamepelt. "We have heard that Snowclan was driven out of their home and have found a better place to live. We are sending three warriors and Autumnleaf to go find the place. You, Goldentail, Marshheart, and Autumnleaf will be going." Ashstar meowed.
Wait.... Autumnleaf is not an apprentice anymore!" Flamepelt meowed.
"You don't know, well I guess you wouldn't know. It happened at the moonstone." Ashstar replied
"Ok, we can head out now or at dawn tomorrow." Flamepelt meowed back.
"We need you to go as soon as possible. Get some fresh-kill and leave" Ashstar meowed back
The four cats headed out of camp. "Who here thinks that this is going to be totally pointless" Marshheart meows.
"I think there could be something out there, or there could not be something out there. I am in the middle." Flamepelt meowed
"Probably nothing" Goldentail meowed.
"Lets not get in an argument this early in the journey, come on you weren't chosen for nothing!" Autumnleaf meowed to the group.
"WE WEREN"T ARGUING!" Goldentail, Flamepelt, and Marshheart meowed all at once.
"It sounded like you were arguing" Autumnleaf meowed to them.
"BUT WE WEREN"T ARGUING!" Goldentail, Flamepelt, and Marshheart all meowed once again.
Back at camp....
"Ummm... Ashstar. You forgot to tell Flamepelt to bring me. You said I would go but you never told Flamepelt." Blackpaw meowed.
"Oh Moonclan! I forgot! Find them, they should still be on Flameclan territory!" Ashstar meowed in panic.
Blackpaw rushed out of camp. When he could still see camp behind him he started to hear arguing.
In the forest again.....
When Blackpaw reached the group he meowed "Why are you guys arguing? I don't see any reason."
"BECAUSE AUTUMNLEAF SAID THAT WE WERE ARGUING!" they meowed back.
"That makes no sense but ok!" Blackpaw meowed enthusiastically.
"Well, if your coming with us follow me" Flamepelt meowed to her apprentice.
They continued on without arguing for Blackpaw's sake until they reached the Darkclan border. "What do we do here, we were told to go through Snowclan's old territory, but to get into Snowclan's territory we have to either walk much farther and go through The Tribe of Climbing Rock's territory or through here" Marshheart meowed to the group.
"It is true" Goldentail meowed.
"I say we go through Darkclan territory, it is not large, and we already have a big journey ahead of us" Marshheart meowed.
"Yeah" the group meowed in agreement.
"Whatever you say!" Blackpaw meowed enthusiastically.
"Well maybe we should go through The Tribe of Climbing Rock's territory. They are not as hostile." Flamepelt meowed.
"True...ok" most of the group meowed at once.
Chapter 7 : BeaverClan's Belief[]
The group started walking away from Darkclan territory and closer to The Tribe of Climbing Rock's territory. Half way there a large brown tom approached.
"Who are you and what are you doing on Beaverclan territory?" The cat growled to the group.
"Who are you, and why did you take Flameclan's territory? We have had this territory for many, many moons." Marshheart hissed at the cat.
"Yeah we have!" Goldentail agreed.
"It still belongs to BeaverClan!" The cat hissed.
Blackpaw leapt at the cat hissing "You will never take FlameClan territory!"
"No you will never take BeaverClan territory" the cat meowed while dodging Blackpaw's furious attacks.
Flamepelt leapt onto their back and sunk her claws deep into their shoulders while the cat yowled. "Blackpaw! Now is your chance!" Flamepelt meowed to Blackpaw.
Blackpaw swiped at the cat's throat, although it barely scratched it. "Haha, little kitty can't hurt me" the cat meowed "if you have not noticed StarClan granted us this territory"
"StarClan is a myth!" Marshheart meowed.
"yeah!" Goldentail agreed.
Marsheart leapt at the cat, knocking Flamepelt off of his back. He finally sunk his claws into his chest, searching for his heart. Before he could find it the cat shook him off of his back and ran away, yelping.
"Now that thats over, Autumnleaf you help Blackpaw, and we will hunt.
Flamepelt guarded Blackpaw and Autumnleaf while Goldentail and Marshheart were out hunting. When the cats returned it was star-sky and they only had a few pieces of prey. "What took you guys so long for a few pieces of prey!?" Autumnleaf meowed in frustration.
"There was not much prey around" Goldentail meowed as three mice scampered bellow her feet/
"Uh huh, and foxes can fly" Flamepelt meowed to the two cats.
"We are sorry, we could not find any prey!" Goldentail meowed.
"Yeah, and foxes can fly" Blackpaw retorted.
"We got a little distracted..." Marshheart meowed to the group.
"Finally someone admits something!" Blackpaw meows to the cats enthusiastically.
"Lets just focus, we have not even made it out of FlameClan territory, we need to quicken the pace tomorrow, that means no more arguing" Autumnleaf meowed.
Chapter 8 : Through Foreign Territory[]
The next morning the group set off in the direction of the Tribe of Climbing Rock's territory. When they reached the border....
"What are you doing on BeaverClan's territory!?" the same brown tom form before hissed "Oh great StarClan its you four."
"Umm.... This is the Tribe of Climbing Rock's territory" Autumnleaf meowed to him.
"NO ITS NOT! THIS BELONGS TO BEAVERCLAN!" the cat hissed as a dusty silver she-cat from atop a high cliff leapt down.
"I am Silver in the Stones of the Mountain, and why are you trying to take our territory?" Silver in the Stones of the Mountain meowed calmly.
"We are very sorry for our inconvenience, we were passing through to try to find a new territory. As for him, he first stole our territory claiming it belonged to some "BeaverClan" and now he is trying to take your Silver in the Stone of the Mountain." Autumnleaf meowed back calmly.
"It is fine for your cats to pass, we are closely allied with Ashstar and FlameClan, as for you get off our territory. FlameClan cats, come with me I would like you to meet our healer, Teller of Giant Peaks, or Peakteller. You can call me Silver." Silver replied.
The brown tom left as the group headed into their camp. "Hello, I am Peakteller, what brings you here to our small tribe" Peakteller meowed to the cats.
"These FlameClan cats are wishing to travel through our territory" Silver replied.
"Of course they can, but first let me get you some herbs to help you on your journey" Peakteller meowed to them as she dashed into the storage of herbs.
Peakteller came out and gave the herbs to Autumnleaf as they left. "Thank you for your hospitality Silver and Peakteller!" Autumnleaf meowed in thanks.
"Your welcome! Comeback anytime!" Silver meowed enthusiastically.
The group padded out of the camp. "That went well, a lot better than going through DarkClan territory!" Blackpaw meowed.
"Well tribes are peaceful, unlike clans, especially certain clans" Flamepelt meowed.
"On our way back to get the rest of the clan we will pass back through there instead of DarkClan territory." Marshheart meowed to the group.
They continued on their way silently until they were in foreign territory.
"I wonder if this territory is inhabited by any groups" Flamepelt meowed.
The group settled down for the night. In the night a peach tabby cat appeared in Flamepelt's dream.
"Tomorrow great hardships shall come, no one will win this battle" Tabbystar meowed to Flamepelt before a vision of dogs barking and the four cats running appeared in her head.
When Flamepelt woke she was exhausted and curious about the dream, but never mentioned it to any cat in the group. "Me and Flamepelt are on hunting duty." Marshheart meowed.
The two cats padded through the woods until they heard rustling behind them.
Chapter 9 : Lost in the Deep, Dark, Unknown[]
"Marshheart, quiet, a mouse is behind us" Flamepelt meowed as she turned around.
Marshheart looked up and meowed "Ok, you get that one I will find my own."
Flamepelt crept up on it searching for its exact location. Suddenly she saw something golden colored in the brush. As she crept up Goldentail leapt up and meowed " I got bored so I decided to join you!" happily.
"Ugh, why are you not guarding Blackpaw and Autumnleaf, they are not warriors you kn..."Flamepelt meowed as a large noise came from behind them.
"Dogs!" Goldentail meowed.
"Lets go get the others safe!" Flamepelt meowed as she dashed off.
They were chased by the dogs through the forest and when they got back to camp they found Autumnleaf being cornered by a dog and Blackpaw on that dog's back biting and snarling.
"Autumnleaf, Blackpaw, lets get out of here!" Marsheart meowed in urgency.
The group dashed off through the forest and when the dogs were far behind them, and when they looked around they realized that they were lost, very lost. "Where are we?" Goldentail asked the group.
"Who knows....." Marshheart meowed.
"Lets find out!" Blackpaw meowed, already half way up the tree.
"That's the best idea yet" Flamepelt meowed while starting to climb a different tree.
"Ok" the two cats remaining on the ground meowed.
"Wow look at the view here!" Blackpaw meowed from the top of the tree.
"It is so beautiful!" Flamepelt meowed as she reached the top of the tree.
"can't - climb - the - tree" Goldentail meowed as she gasped for air.
Marshheart pushed Goldentail up the tree. After the two cats finally made it up the tree the group watched the sunset from the trees. When the moon was rising the group slept in the trees, and when they woke the found themselves in hollow in a tree. "Where are we?" Flamepelt meowed as she woke.
A brown she-cat approached the cats in the hollow. "What were you doing on TreeClan territory?" she meowed.
"We are sorry, we did not know this was your territory. Me and my ma-" Marshheart meowed.
"We are just passing through we didn't mean anything by trespassing on your territory, honest" Autumnleaf meowed, correcting Marshheart and acting as though he had said nothing strange.
"Thanks for the catch" Marsheart whispered to Autumnleaf.
"Ok, you may leave" The cat meowed as the group padded out.
"Well that was strange!" Blackpaw meowed enthusiastically.
"What was strange..." Marshheart meowed curiously.
"Those cats, I have never heard of TreeClan or cats that live their lives in a tree!" Blackpaw replied.
"Ok, good" Marshheart meowed.
"Are you hiding something?" Flamepelt asked.
"Nothing, nothing at all!" Marshheart meowed as he tried not to panic.
"Uh huh" Flamepelt meowed.
Chapter 10 : The Sight of Ancient JuniperClan[]
The group continued on, with Flamepelt still pondering what Marshheart's reaction meant.
"Finally a group of trees away from TreeClan's territory!" Goldentail meowed.
"I call the hollow with Goldentail!" Marshheart meowed.
"Ok" Autumnleaf meowed.
"Sure!" Blackpaw meowed.
"Why not...." Flamepelt replied.
The cats climbed their trees and made their nests out of leaves.
"Me and Blackpaw are on hunting duty." Flamepelt meowed as she climbed down from her tree.
"It is time that you get some real training Blackpaw" Flamepelt meowed.
"Ok!" Blackpaw replied.
"Remember the hunters crouch?"
"Yeah, duh" Blackpaw meowed.
"Ok, I will test you on it. Try to catch five mice before I do" Flamepelt meowed "Starting now!"
Blackpaw dashed off as Flamepelt meowed, a few seconds later Flamepelt dashed off as well. "Got one Flamepelt!" Blackpaw meowed.
"Hurry up! I already have two!" Flamepelt replied.
"I have three!" Blackpaw meowed about a minute later.
"Great! I still have two!" Flamepelt meowed in encouragement.
About two minutes later Blackpaw meowed "I have all five!"
"Good job, I just caught my fifth. Tomorrow we will work on battle training." Flamepelt replied as they padded back to their makeshift camp.
When they returned Blackpaw meowed enthusiastically "We have ten mice! Take as much as you want!"
Goldentail was the first to pad forward. She grabbed two mice for herself, and then another one for Marshheart. Then Flamepelt and Blackpaw took their mouse.
"Are you sure you have enough for me?" Autumnleaf asked.
"Yeah! We still have five!" Blackpaw meowed.
"Ok" Autumnleaf meowed pleasantly.
"It will be dark soon, get high and look for any sign of other cats, we don't need TreeClan to happen again!" Marsheart demanded.
"Ok" The group meowed as they climbed to the tops of their trees.
"Have you noticed yet?" Goldentail asked.
"Noticed what?" Flamepelt replied.
"We've changed so much since we left, look at us, we are sleeping in trees. We have knowledge of more clans than Tabbystar knew about!" Goldentail meowed delighted at the fact that she knew more than her sister for once.
"Now that I realize it, your right" Autumnleaf meowed "I mean, nobody else will ever get to do this."
Once it was dark the group climbed down and slept in their tree. In the morning they awoke to the scent of juniper, and more cats. "Do you guys smell that too?" Autumnleaf asked.
"Do you mean the scent of cats and juniper trees?" Flamepelt replied "Then yes I do."
"Well then we should be moving on and out of here" Marsheart meowed.
"Lets hurry up so that the cats don't catch us" Goldentail meowed.
The group raced out of their makeshift camp, through the woods filled with more juniper trees than they had ever seen.
"The smell - so strong!" Goldentail meowed as they continued racing through the woods.
"Yep! Gross!" Blackpaw meowed in disgust.
"Then lets hurry up and we will be out of here sooner" Marshheart meowed.
The group suddenly came to an open space in a small ditch in the ground filled with cats. The cats bellow looked up at the cats above them.
"welli ahon ghi (who are you?)" a calico cat meowed in the most ancient of cat language.
"Viperfang taught me this language, I understand them" Autumnleaf meowed.
"kilo beco ici perio (we come in peace)" she meowed in the ancient language.
"ay sek (I see)" the calico replied.
"kilo ahon JuniperClan, ghi amay paha (we are JuniperClan, you may pass) " They finished
"We can pass" Autumnleaf reassured the group.
Chapter 11 : SnowClan At Last[]
The cats passed and dipped their head to the cats as they crossed through their beautiful camp filled with blossoming trees, even though it was leaf-fall. Once outside of JuniperClan camp, another smell came, but this time it was familiar.
"SnowClan!" Blackpaw yowled in surprise.
The word "SnowClan" echoed through the group as they padded forward.
"You are here!" Snowpelt greeted the group "We already got a small idea of where the territories will be."
"Where! Where!" Blackpaw questioned enthusiastically.
"A little bit farther north, in a dormant volcano." Snowpelt replied.
"Great! It definitely fits our clan name!" Flamepelt meowed.
"Unfortunately for you..." Snowpelt meowed "You have to go all the way back and get your clan, and The Tribe of Climbing Rocks wanted you guys to bring them here."
"Well then I guess we will be going..." Autumnleaf meowed.
"No, please stay for a few days. You need to rest before you set off again." Snowpelt pleaded.
"Thanks Snowpelt." Flamepelt meowed.
"No problem, if you would like to see your camp it starts at the edge of the shadow for DarkClan territory" Snowpelt replied
The group padded to what was going to be their new home. Suddenly, from atop SnowClan mountain, they saw it. A large crater atop a mountain appeared in front of them. The group raced inside of the crater to find hot springs, rivers, and marshes inside.
"Well, we found paradise" Marshheart meowed.
"yeah, I guess so" Goldentail replied.
"This is were we will stay, paradise." Flamepelt meowed.
The cats climbed up trees to sleep as they had done before. "What are we doing up here?" Blackpaw asked.
"Right! We should find the dens, I never imagined planning out the WHOLE ENTIRE CAMP!" Goldentail mewed in excitement.
"In the morning Goldentail." Flamepelt meowed in exhaustion.
"ok, ok" she replied.
The cats slept in peace, and when they woke the sun was already peaking out from above the cliff walls protecting them. "Come on! Come on!" Goldentail mewed in excitement.
"Were coming!" Blackpaw replied.
The cats explored the territory, and while deep in their territory they found a clearing of trees, with a great stone in the center. "Well, this would make a great camp." Marshheart meowed to the group.
"Yes it would" Flamepelt replied.
"I call this crevice for the medicine cats den!" Autumnleaf meowed in more excitement then she had ever felt before.
"Okay, that old fox hole beneath the rock is the leaders den, and the one on the other side is the deputy den, and that hollow in the tree is the nursery, and that other hollow in that tree is the elders den, and the last rock crevice is the warriors den, oh, and that bush full of brambles with another old fox hole beneath it is the apprentices den." Goldentail mewed confidently.
"Ok, since it looks like you have got this all figured out me and Blackpaw will start naming some places around the territory, as well as start up a prey pile." Flamepelt replied.
"Marshheart, you go back, since your fast and can do it in a day, and get the clan." Blackpaw meowed as if he was the leader.
Chapter 12 : FlameClan Finds Home[]
Blackpaw and Flamepelt leapt through the tall grass and climbed through the trees naming every interesting place they saw. "This tree is Great Tree!" Blackpaw meowed suddenly.
"That's all for now, why don't we hunt, then we can work on your fighting moves." Flamepelt replied.
"Why don't you teach me to hunt birds instead?" Blackpaw meowed "I already can catch mice easily.
"Sure!" Flamepelt meowed happily as she leapt to another tree branch.
"Listen here, birds would hear us." Flamepelt explained "You stalk them quietly on their own branch, then you do the hunters crouch, except have your claws out before. The hardest part is making sure you can land so be careful. Not even I am great at this so be careful."
"Ok" Blackpaw replied.
"Last one to catch 5 makes the new nests in the elders den!" Flamepelt cried out as she raced on top of the trees.
A robin suddenly landed in front of Flamepelt. She skidded to a stop and crept up on as she had told Blackpaw to do. Seeing a branch ahead of her she leapt forward and caught it in her mouth. Flamepelt leapt to the ground and buried it in the soft volcanic soil. "That will be safe there" she meowed as she leapt up into a tree again.
Flamepelt and Blackpaw continued to catch birds, when suddenly they both cried out "I have 5!" at the same moment.
"Well it looks like none of us will be making the nests" Flamepelt meowed as they carried their birds back to camp.
When they arrived at camp they found a small fresh kill pile already there. The two cats set their catches along with the others on the stump keeping the fresh met clean.
"You two are back!" Autumnleaf meowed to the Blackpaw and Flamepelt "I have some news."
"Continue on...." Flamepelt replied.
"A rogue has wondered into our camp, and he wants to join." Autumnleaf meowed "He was a former ScarClan member before he ran away, his name is Bone, he is supposedly looking for his brother, Unlucky."
"Well we would have to get Ashstar's permission first, although he let a kittypet in so why not a rogue?" Flamepelt replied.
A black and white tabby cat padded out of the medicine cats den and meowed "Hi, I am Bone. Have you seen a blind cat wandering anywhere around here?"
"No we have not." Flamepelt replied "But you are welcome to stay here and look for him."
"Sure" Bone replied.
"Follow me to the warriors den, it is getting dark" Flamepelt replied.
"Ok" he meowed back as they padded into the rock crevice.
The cats slept, and when they woke up a cat was wandering in circles in the camp. "Who is that?" Blackpaw asked.
"That... Its Unlucky!" Bone cried out happily.
"Bone? Is that you" Unlucky replied.
"It is! Its is!" Bone cheered.
The day continued on with the small group of cats while Autumnleaf explained things about a clan to Unlucky and Bone. When the day was almost over, voices came from nearby. "Where could it be?" a cat asked.
Flamepelt raced over to find the rest of FlameClan there. "Over here is camp." She meowed.
"Yay!" Pinepaw meowed.
Flamepelt explained everything about the dens and Bone and Unlucky to the cats before they fell asleep.
Chapter 13 : A New Start[]
In the morning Ashstar climbed the new highrock. "As you know, two rogues were found, I would like to welcome them to the clan as warriors. From now on, Bone, you shall be known as Bonetail! And Unlucky, because despite everything you managed to come here, you shall be known as Luckyclaw!" Ashstar announced to the clan.
All the cats cheered "Bonetail! Luckyclaw!"
"I also have one more thing to announce, Blackpaw lead our clan here well. I would like to reward him by making him a warrior. From this day on Blackpaw shall be known as Blackfur!" Ashstar cried out happily.
"Blackfur" was cried out from the cats.
Soon the noise settled down and the cats returned to their dens for a rest after their work. Bristleclaw approached the warriors den and meowed "Flamepelt, Blackfur, would you mind going on a hunting patrol? We are low on prey."
"Sure!" Blackfur meowed.
The cats padded out and caught mice, voles, birds and snakes to bring back. When they returned they set their catches in the fresh kill pile and padded into the warriors den. Inside they suddenly realized that Goldentail was not inside. Flamepelt padded to Ashstar's den and asked "Where is Goldentail?"
Ashstar replied "Don't you know, in the nursery."
"What!" Flamepelt yowled.
"Yesterday she had her kits in the middle of the night!" Ashstar meowed back.
"What!" Flamepelt yowled again.
"You should meet them they are little sweet hearts." Ashstar replied.
Flamepelt padded into the hollow in the tree to find several kits waiting for her. "What are their names?" Flamepelt asked.
"This one is Oceankit, that one is Seakit, that one is Aquakit, and that one is Flowerkit." Goldentail meowed in pride.
"Well I will leave you too your new kits, and who is their father anyways?" Flamepelt meowed.
"Marsheart" Goldentail replied.
"MARSHEART!" Flamepelt meowed as she dashed out of the nursery.
Flamepelt and Blackfur went on a hunting patrol for the clan.
Meanwhile back in the nursery....
Goldentail licked her kits as Aquakit cried out for food.
"Aquakit, you need to wait for Flamepelt and Blackfur to get back." She meowed.
Aquakit continued to cry for food, and soon the other kits joined in.
Chapter 14 : New Life[]
"Flowerkit! Aquakit! Seakit! Oceankit! Calm down, Flamepelt and Blackfur are back with food." Goldentail shouted.
The kits mewed in pleasure at the word "food" as Flamepelt climbed in with two mice in her jaw.
"Thank you, I am sure my kits will appreciate it." Goldentail meowed.
"I will be going now" Flamepelt replied as she padded out of the hollow in the tree.
"Hey! Tornadopaw, hows it going?" Flamepelt meowed at the sight of Tornadopaw.
"You should not have gone on that journey, you should know my name is now Tornadostripe!" Tornadostripe hissed.
"Ugh!" Flamepelt replied.
Suddenly a gray cat leapt down from the wall of camp announcing his presence loudly. "Missingstar!" Flamepelt yowled.
Thornkit leapt out of the nursery hissing at Missingstar. "Thornkit! Get back!" Ashstar meowed.
"I should not be there! I am nine moons old!" Thornkit hissed at Ashstar.
"But you have not been trained I will make you an apprentice after we drive Missingstar off of our territory!" Ashstar yowled.
Marsheart leapt out of the nursery and started slashing at Missingstar. Flamepelt and Blackfur leapt into the battle against Missingstar. Missingstar started yowling from the scratches and bites he was getting. Suddenly feeling very outnumbered he dashed off back to DarkClan territory. The battle was over, so as he had promised he climbed the highrock to make Thornkit an apprentice. "As many of you know Thornkit is nine moons old, her brother, Ravenpelt, is a warrior, it is time she is treated fairly. From now on until she earns her warrior name Thornkit will be known as Thornpaw!" Ashstar announced to the clan.
"Her mentor will be Goldentail, Soiltail has trained you well, you are ready to take Thornpaw as an apprentice" Ashstar finished.
Goldentail touched noses with Thornpaw as they padded out of camp cheerfully. Bristleclaw smiled at the apprentice ceremony that finally happened for her kit. Ashstar padded out of camp mysteriously and into the woods. "Well it looks like we should be teaching the warriors how to hunt the birds" Blackfur meowed.
"Sure, we should do that." Flamepelt replied.
"Tornadostripe! Ravenpelt! come on and we will teach you to hunt the birds!" Blackfur meowed.
"Ok" Ravenpelt replied.
"Why should I? But fine, I'll do it" Tornadostripe replied.
"Lets go" Ravenpelt meowed.
Chapter 15 : Bird Hunting[]
"Ok, the first thing you do when you are hunting birds is you find one sitting on a branch that is not looking in your direction." Blackfur explained.
"Then, you sneak up on it from a branch that is not the one the bird is on." Flamepelt continued.
"You crouch down and leap on it, but remember to make sure there is a branch you can land on after you catch the bird." Blackfur finished.
"Ok, ok" Tornadostripe meowed.
Blackfur and Flamepelt returned to camp, to find that Ashstar was back. They padded to the nursery-hollow that he was in and asked "What are you doing in here?"
"More kits!" Blackfur yelped in surprise.
"So you noticed Blackfur, good eyes," Ashstar replied as he grabbed the two kits and leapt down from the hollow.
"The white one with a black tail and two black spots is Solokit and the Russian blue with a white under belly is Cinderkit" Ashstar explained.
"Who is their mother?" Flamepelt questioned.
"I don't know." Ashstar said "I found them in the woods."
"and foxes can fly" Flamepelt butted in "I know you know, and I am going to trust you. But you definitely know who their mother was."
The clan all padded into their dens and went to sleep. In the middle of the night they heard a yelping coming from one of the dens. Immediately the warriors woke and dashed to the deputy's den where the crying was coming from. Ashstar yowled when he saw Bristleclaw's body sprawled across the ground. Ashstar, realizing it was star-sky climbed the highrock to announce a last-minute new deputy. "As many of you know, Bristleclaw was attacked by a mysterious force, I must now announce a new deputy for it is star-sky. May MoonClan hear and approve my choice. FlameClan's new deputy will be Flamepelt!" Ashstar meowed to the clan.
Flamepelt gasped in astonishment as she padded up the highrock to accept her position. "Thank you Ashstar" flamepelt meowed.
The clan cheered "Flamepelt! Flamepelt!" repetitively.
Flamepelt padded down from the highrock to get a bird from the fresh-kill pile when Blackfur walked up. "So, how does it feel to be deputy?" he asked.
"I guess... Just strange, and different, and exciting all at the same time." Flamepelt replied.
"Do you know how many lives Ashstar has left?" Blackfur asked
"I honestly don't know" Flamepelt meowed as she picked up a mouse and padded into the deputy's den.
"Well I am going to check on Solokit, Flowerkit, Seakit, Cinderkit, Oceankit, and Aquakit" Blackfur meowed as he raced to the nursery-hollow.
Chapter 16 : A Well-Earned Name[]
After Flamepelt ate her mouse she padded into Ashstar's den and meowed "I think Thornpaw is ready to be a warrior. I know she will be proud."
"I do too, Flamepelt what should her warrior name be?" Ashstar replied.
"Umm.. Thornfeather" Flamepelt mewed.
"I like it" Ashstar replied.
Ashstar climbed the the highrock and meowed "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet beneath the highrock"
The cats of FlameClan gathered beneath the highrock. "Today Thornpaw is ready to become a warrior." Flamepelt meowed to the clan.
"May MoonClan look down apon this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your code. From this day on your name will be Thornfeather!" Ashstar meowed with pride.
Before anyone could cheer Thornfeather's name Thornfeather yowled with excitement "I am finally a warrior!"
"You are all dismissed" Flamepelt meowed.
The cats returned to whatever they were doing. "Another thing we must discuss Flamepelt is the gathering being held tonight that happens every 6 moons. Who do you think should go?" Ashstar mewed.
"Lets see, Thornfeather, Tornadostripe, Blackfur, Marsheart, and Spikeyfang if he is not still grieving for Bristleclaw." Flamepelt decided.
"We will need to get back on the normal gathering schedule, now that were settled in and all" Thornfeather mewed.
"Good point Thornfeather, hopefully we will remember next full-moon" Ashstar replied.
The day progressed, and at dusk the cats chosen to go to the gathering gathered in the center of camp. "Is this everyone?" Blackfur asked.
"Me, Tornadostripe, You, Marshheart, Flamepelt, Ashstar, Spikeyfang...Yep! Thats everyone!" Thornfeather exclaimed.
The group padded through the forest until they reached the gathering place. There Flamepelt and Ashstar took their places on the great rock while the other FlameClan cats sat down beneath it. Flamepelt looked up and noticed that Missingstar's deputy, Darkpelt, was sitting in Missingstar's place. "It looks like all clans are here, so let the gathering begin!" Berrystar mewed to the clan cats "DarkClan may speak first."
Darkpelt stood up "As many of you have noticed, I am sitting here instead of Missingstar, a newly made leader. You see Missingstar was too brutal to all cats, so all of DarkClan agreed that we would overthrow him. Just last night I traveled to the Moonstone and gained my nine lives and my name, Darkstar. Prey has been running well in our territory." Darkstar meowed "FlameClan may speak next."
Chapter 17 : The Prophecy Life[]
"FlameClan has settled well into our new territory, we have plenty of prey, we also have a new warrior, Thornfeather along with plenty of new kits Oceankit, Seakit, Flowerkit, Aquakit, Solokit, and Cinderkit" Flamepelt meowed.
Flampelt noticed that Waveclaw seemed to flinch whenever Solokit and Cinderkit were mentioned. Flamepelt wondered to herself "Waveclaw has something to do with Cinderkit and Solokit"
"WaveClan may speak next" Ashstar meowed.
"We have settled into our territory well, there are more fish than we ever imagined in our rivers as well." Foxstar meowed "DustClan may speak next."
"With your new territory we are in no need for water. We have found a more protected camp in our new desert. I would also like to announce our new warrior, Dustheart." Nettlestar meowed "LightningClan may speak next."
"LightningClan has a wonderful gorge in our territory were we can shelter from many dangers, something we used to not have. We have plenty of prey, along with a new deputy, Lightningpelt." Speedstar meowed "AirClan may speak."
"We now have plenty of rabbits in our territory, the high mountain suits us well." Hollystar meowed "The clans are dismissed."
The clan cats began to speak with their friends in the other clans, having not seen each other in 6 moons. Ashstar flicked his tail for FlameClan to leave. "Ashstar, wait!" Flamepelt yowled.
"What is it Flamepelt?" Ashstar meowed as he turned back.
"Don't you think we should stay here a while before we leave!" Flamepelt meowed.
"Fine" Ashstar replied as the FlameClan cats returned to where they were.
When the cats returned to camp everything was a disaster. Flamepelt immediately asked Goldentail. "Missingstar came, as you now know he was exiled, and because of that he went to reak havoc on all clans." she meowed.
"I will organize a patrol to check on the other clans tomorrow, particularly DarkClan being the clan that exiled Missingstar" Flamepelt replied.
