“Ha!” Yowled Waterkit’s littermate Firekit. “No wonder you missed that jump; You’re useless!”

“Yeah. I heard that you tripped over all the herbs in the medicine den!” His other littermate Lightkit added. Waterkit drooped her tail, and padded back to the nursery. In the nursery, she saw her mother, Brightpetal. Tears dripped down her cheeks, and onto the floor.

“What’s wrong?” Snapped Brightpetal. “You’re getting all the nests wet.” Tears streamed down her eyes. “Stop it!” Brightpetal hissed, jumping back.

“But mom, Lightkit and Firekit called me useless!” Waterkit wailed, burying her nose in Brightpetal’s fur. Brightpetal jerked back, causing Waterkit to fall on the cold, hard floor.

Brightpetal snorted. “You would’ve made a pitiful warrior. Why don’t you just retire to the elders’?” At this moment, it made Waterkit angry. Anger bubbled in her chest, and she leaped at her. Brightpetal placed a paw firmly on her neck.

“You may have won this time, but what would StarClan say if you killed your own kit? The kit that you rejected.” She scrambled out of the den, and into the open world.

Chapter 1

Waterkit saw a glimpse of orange fur. It’s Tigerstripe’s patrol! Waterkit thought, and crouched behind a tree. “I smell DawnClan,” One of the cats of the patrol growled.

TIgerstripe snorted. “Of course it’s DawnClan! This is our territory.”

“No, it smells like a kit.” Waterkit stiffened. Tigerstripe walked to a bush, and picked up Fernkit.

“Don’t go out of camp until you’re an apprentice.” Tigerstripe scolded her, picking her by the scruff. The kit was protesting in his mouth, but Tigerstripe ignored her.

She walked and walked until she reached the Twolegplace. “What are you doing here?” A rouge hissed.

“I….I’m just traveling.” She stammered.

“What’s your name?” He asked, bracing his muscles to attack.

“Water.” She answered, her head and tail high.

The battle glint in his eyes disappeared, and he relaxed. “You’re not one of those Clan cats, are you?” He wondered, half to himself.

She shook her head. “My mom rejected me.” She hissed. She looked up to see a familiar face. “You’re Ashbreeze!” She gasped.

“Call me Ash.” He growled. She nodded. “And you’re Waterkit, I presume?” Water nodded

“But call me Water.” She growled. “I hate Brightpetal and Tigerstripe.” She dug her claws in the earth. Ash’s eyes widened. He led her to a different forest from the four Clans. “Do you think this is safe? She shuddered, seeing all the cats looking at her while she passed by with Ash.

“Don’t worry.” Ash promised. “I’m their leader. They won’t dare challenge me.” Water tipped her head to one side. He already made a group?

“What’s it called?” She asked. She thought maybe it was AshClan or Tribe of Ashes. She remember the time when she used to play with her littermates.

“SunClan.” He growled. SunClan! It was a Clan. I want to see the Tribe of Falling Rain! She thought to herself. No. You’re not a Clan cat anymore. You won’t be able to go to the Mooncloud ever again.

“Can I join?!” She asked excitedly, bouncing up and down. "Also, why don't you have 'star' in your name?"

“I need to talk with my deputy." He mewed. "It's a long story."

Chapter 2

Water waited outside until it was sunhigh. Finally, Ash and his deputy, Talon, walked out of the den. He leaped on top of a giant sycamore tree. “We have finally decided that Water is going to join.” Water dipped her head.

“Hey you!” A ginger she-cat padded up to her. “Welcome to SunClan!” Water flicked her tail. Then, she saw the surprised gazes of the apprentices.

“You’re only a kit!” One gasped. She glared at him, and padded away, tail and head high, to Ash.

“Can you tell me why you don’t have ‘star’ in your name?” She asked, bouncing up and down excitedly.

Ash sighed. He settled down on some moss.

“You see……….It was a perfect day, and the sun was shining. I just came back from hunting, and then MorningClan warriors rushed into the camp, saying that a DawnClan cat hunted on their territory. ‘Who hunted today?’ The leader that time, Willowstar, asked. All the cats’ gazes went to him. ‘You had no right to hunt on MorningClan territory, so you are exiled.,’ Willowstar snarled.

‘But…...I didn’t-’

‘GO!’ Willowstar sneered. He flicked his tail to two warriors. ‘Escort him to the border.’ They dipped their heads, and guarded him until they reached the border.

‘Have a safe trip.’ One of the warriors, Lightningfire whispered.  I flicked my tail, and crossed the border.

‘Why, why, why, we see intruders on SunClan territory.’ A pale ginger tortoiseshell she-cat snarled.

‘SunClan?!’ I exclaimed. ‘There’s only four Clans in the forest.’

The cat sighed. ‘We were driven out, due to the fox-hearted-’ I gulped. What if they were talking about DawnClan?! She flicked her tail to the marshy grounds. ‘-NightClan, kicked us out, and told us they need more prey.’

‘No wonder NightClan has that big of a territory!’ I exclaimed, my pelt bristling.

‘And, that was the night of a gathering,-’

I cut her off. ‘NightClan attacked at a full moon!’ I snarled, flexing my claws.

‘-we begged the Clans to give us territory, and the deputy, Willowflame, said that why should we take care of SunClan, and we were forced to leave the Clans. Then, our leader, Sparrowtar, confronted it was StarClan’s fault, and SunClan that they would still be a Clan, but they would change their names to like a rogue’s name.’ “

Water nodded. Now she understood why. “Well, we can make SunClan a whole Clan again!” She stomped a paw.

Ash shook his head. “It’s no use. The four Clans have taken control of the Mooncloud, we can’t possibly reach it except crossing each other’s territories, and they would claw us to death.

“I know an idea!”
