The old Clan role of “medicine cat” has been divided in two - Priests communicate with StarClan and provide counsel to their higher-uppers, while Healers take care of the more physical duties. They spend their days attending to small cuts and injuries that cats pick up so often. They know herbs and healing plants better then any, and can treat almost any treatable illness.

Note

If you’re wondering, this story will be,, pretty generated. The title was randomly generated. The main characters (and background ones) are randomly generated (from my blog post). The plot was randomly generated. As a result, it might be a little,, strange. Or very strange. Depends on where it leads, I suppose.

Note II

In this fanfiction, the five Clans have merged into one. One cat rules them all, a cat descended from past rulers, a cat with menace in their veins, menace and cruelty inherited from the countless dictators that make up their heritage. This ruler is referred to as “The Ruler”.

This new mass of cats are separated into three groups, or “factions” as they are referred to. Every cat born is placed in a faction when born - a cat with the rank of Priest supervises the kitting and decides what faction the kits, or kit, are more suited for. Lion, Leopard or Tiger. For a Priest is, though showers gifted to the, by StarClan, able to delve into the mind of a newly born kit and see where they belong. Are they loyal and brave, the type of cat that would defend their faction until their last breath? If so, they belong with the Lion Faction. Do they prefer their own company, jump to conclusions quickly yet fight fiercely for the few that command their loyalty? If so, they belong with the Leopard Faction. Or, perhaps, are they fiercely unique and adaptable? If so, they belong with the Tiger Faction.

A kit, once sent to it’s new faction - or, of course, left with it’s mother - will live comfortably until the age of three moons. They will then train in all areas, taught the basics of all the possible ranks they might one day posses. Until, of course, they reach the age of six moons. Upon reaching that age, they will be sent once again to a Priest, who will survey them and once more delve into their mind. The Priest will decide what career the cat is best suited to. Possible careers include Priest, Crafter, Hunter, Healer and Scout. If a cat is particularly talented, the Priest will recommend them for the role of Baron, in which a cat oversees their faction - with, of course, the help of two others. Every faction must have three Barons at a time.

A Priest oversees the spiritual side of faction life. They take care of burials, kittings, trials and ceremonies that could be considered spiritual. They are all gifted slight mind reading abilities by StarClan, but only use them during trials or ceremonies such as the faction choosing of a kit and the career choosing of a young cat on the brink of adulthood. There are normally nine Priests at one time. If a Priest is exceptionally good at their job, they might be appointed the High Priest, who advises The Ruler on spiritual matters. There is only one High Priest in all the factions, and becoming one is considered a great honour.

A Crafter is an essential part of the factions, despite having a rather simple job. Crafters repair the structures in the factions - extend the dens, repair them if they have suffered damage, help develop the camps in which the factions have settled in. Crafters are generally skilled climbers, as well as nimble-pawed and good at quickly assessing things. It is said by many that, despite being mocked by Barons and The Ruler, Crafters are the most skilled and intelligent cats in the factions.

Hunters are an incredibly essential group of cats. As their name suggests, it is the Hunters that provide food for the factions. They are incredibly skilful - able to hunt in the trees, able to stalk and crouch with ease, able to swim easily and fish, able to run fast enough to catch the rabbits in the moors - although, of course, no one cat is capable of all this. Different skills belong to different factions, for they are all based in different locations. Still, Hunters are an integral part of faction life, and the only reason the factions can survive.
