Chapter one

Firestar sat on the great rock, looking over camp It was in between the time when the Dusk patrol returned and the Clan went to sleep. The Clan was sharing tongues, Deerspot was sharing a crow with her mate, Birchclaw. Flashkit and Woodkit were playing mossball with Timberlog, their father, and Smokespirit, their mother. Darkfur was lying in the sun, sharing a rabbit with his mate, Windbreeze, and his kits, Flowerblossom and Snowstorm. Their last kit, Wetsplash, was out assessing her apprentice, Moonpaw. All the apprentices were getting assessed and the clan would know the results by nightfall and Larkpaw, Nightingalepaw, Grasspaw and Moonpaw would be warriors by sunhigh tomorrow. That was if they passed, of course. "They passed!" Wetsplash emerged from the entrance followed by the apprentices and their mentors. The six of them, Wetsplash, Firestar, Darkfur, Windbreeze, Flowerblossom and Snowstorm, were much different than other cats. From the moment they were born, they'd had special powers that no cat dreamed of having. StarClan had given them powers just as StarClan had given them a prophecy: As fire blazes and
