Prologue

Cinderpaw came running in the entrance to the camp, all the warriors were out, it was lucky Moleriver had scented the twoleg, there was enough warriors who could defeat the twoleg he thought. He was in the elders' den at the time talking to Blondefur bout his first battle and how Thunderclan won, it was great! The twoleg wailed, Palefur came out of the den to see what was happening. "No get back in" Cinderpaw desperately shouted, but too late. The twoleg scopped Palefur up, 'ow' he thought, and they were taken away.

The next minute he knew he was flying out the window, when he spotted Ferretcloud and Cloverpaw with a rogue. As he hit the ground, he felt the life taken away from him. "Palefur" Ferretcloud shouted, "what happened?". "Twoleg steal me, camp looking for you, Cloverpaw", and he fell ito silence. "No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Cloverpaw shouted. But the silence only made him realise, Ferretcloud realised it to, Palefur was dead.

Chapter 1

Palekit bounced up out of his water soaked moss bed and went over to Plotchclaw his mother. Palekit felt the rasp of his mother's tongue on his head and went in closer. Adderpelt came walking in, "Look, he is opening his eyes!" he shouted. Lilystar came walking in. "Well, Kestrelfoot, come in", Kestrelfoot was Thunderclan's deputy.

Palekit opened his eyes, it hurt a little bit at first although it was alright once he had opened them. "Wow" he said, this was nothing like what he expected it to be. Blondekit came over to him. "So you've finally woken up" she said boasting about how she had opened her eyes almost as soon as she was born. Palekit and Blondekit were constantly at war, trying to make themselves the best warriors ever. "Lets play wars, You're Tigerstar and I'm Firestar". Palekit had heard of Tigerstar and Firestar. Firestar was a great leader and Tigerstar was bad, you know. "Unfair, I'm always the underdog," Blondekit wailed, "Oh fine, I'm Tigerstar and you are Scourge, satisfied?" Palekit replied stubbornly. "I'm going to get you Tigerstar!" Blondekit said, Palekit launched himself at Blondekit at the same time as she did to him, they met in mid-air and fell to the ground. "What are you two doing?" Plotchclaw said butting in, "come in, I'm going to tell a story, Goldkit, Redkit, Leafkit, Larkkit, Spottedkit, Littlekit, Mudkit, Shadowkit, Clawedkit, Tawnykit and Finchkit have all gathered around to listen too." Goldkit, Larkkit, Leafkit, Spottedkit and Redkit were his older brothers and sister and were just about to become apprentices. The others were Blondekit's older brothers and sisters and were going to become apprentices aswell apart from Mudkit and Littlekit, they were Shinypelt's kits and were only born a few hours ago, but he was 1 moon old. Blondekit and Palekit walked back inside.

"Hello you two, come and sit down somewhere so you can hear", Plotchclaw said. Blondekit and Palekit sat next to Goldkit. "Today I am going to talk about the time we were forced to move out of our territory. Many many seasons ago, Thunderclan was forced to move out of the lake territory and move futher up. Back then it was Molestar leading them, Son of Poppyfrost, and they were driven all the way here because of a cougar. Now, Molestar is a relative, I'll show you, Molestar was brother of Cherryriver who mated Roguefur and had a cat called Patchclaw, who mated a legend called Foreststar. Foreststar and Patchclaw had Patchpelt and Plotchpaw, Plotchpaw died and Patchpelt mated Merryheart and had Porkcheek, Dampbelly, Paleeye, Greyfluff, Blondestar and Dirtpelt. Porkcheek mated Lilyfang and had Woodgazer, Waterfang, Brightpelt, Fruitpelt, Sparrowclaw, Lightstripe, Lizzardfur and Suncave. They all had children and it is impossible to remember them all, so I'll just follow who I'm related to. Lightstripe mated Blizzardleg, Firestripe and Kauriclaw. Again they all had children, but lets go to Blizzardleg who had a son called Firecloud who mated Gorgebush and had Stonekit, Hardstep, Bluespots, Ravenwing, Shinypelt, Redwing, Bushgazer and Flykit. Obviously we are going to Shinypelt, who married Tawnycloud and had Littlekit and Mudkit. Gorgebush was Birchlily's older sister, and Birchlily is my mother. That is the relation. Molestar was buried at the foot of the camp and appeares in lots of dreams from starclan."

Palekit was stunned,

'I have to make contact with Molestar!'

Chapter 2

Palekit was woken up from his sleep. Goldkit had woken him up, "what" Palekit said annoyed, "Come on, you've been sleeping for moons, it is time for me Redkit, Spottedkit, Larkkit, Leafkit, Shadowkit, Clawedkit, Tawnykit and Finchkit to get our apprentice names!" He said. Now that all of Blondekit and his older brothers and sisters were becoming Apprentices, it would leave only Blondekit and himself to play with.

Palekit stood next to Blondekit, Plotchclaw, Adderpelt, Basilleaf and Minincloud outside the nursery facing the highrock. "I, Lilystar, Leader of Thunderclan look down on these kits as apprentices, Goldkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Goldpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Spottedkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Spottedpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Larkkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Larkpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Leafkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Leafpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Redkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Redpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Finchkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Finchpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Tawnykit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Tawnypaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Clawedkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Clawedpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, Shadowkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Shadowpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan. Everyone started calling out the names: "Goldpaw, Redpaw, Leafpaw, Spottedpaw, Larkpaw, Shadowpaw, Clawedpaw, Finchpaw, Tawnypaw, Swiftwing, Pinesong, Lilyfeather, Hailcloud, Featherpool!" Palekit walked back into the den with Blondekit as everyone else got on with their jobs. He would get to sleep, make contact with Molestar, and think about what lies ahead. He closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep...

Chapter 3

Palekit raced alongside a lake, he didn't know where he was but he didn't care, he could scent a mouse, so that is what he was after, suddenly, everything went Black and a Large cream and brown tom appeared infront of him. "Hello" he said, "I am Molestar. I was leader when you were driven away like you already know, but I lead them, I, have to tell you something, P and B are great linked by tree...

Suddenly he was woken by Blondekit, "Come on, we're supposed to be celebrating the fact we have only two moons until we are apprentices!"

Blondekit and Palekit raced out the door of the nursery. "Lets go exploring!" Blondekit wailed happily, they turned right and walked along a lining o rock until the came across a huge Bramble bush and found Lilystar inside with Kestrelfoot. "Hello, what are you two doing here?" Lilystar asked looking up from the sand picture she was drawing, "We're looking around the camp and celebrating the fact it will only be two moons until we are apprentices!" Palekit shouted delited. "Go on Kestrelfoot, show them around", Lilystar said softly, "It would be my pleasure" He said. They walked out of the den and went into the centre, "now point to a den you can see and we will have a look at it. Go on, Blondekit first", "hum, I wonder, how about that one!" she said pointing to a large den to the right, "that is the warriors den, lets go have a look at the warriors we've got" he said. They walked over to the large den, much bigger than the nursery and stepped in.

Almost as soon as they walked in, a huge multi-coloured tom appeared, it was Tawnycloud. "Hello Blondekit and Palekit" he said in his deep low voice, a brown and grey tom following, "don't worry about him, if you want to learn, ask Gorgebush for a tale, she is the oldest warrior, though don't tell her that!" he said kindly. "We'll go on to another den" Kestrelfoot said. They walked out the opening of the cave and toddled into the clearing, "Palekit, you choose a den ok?" he said, "Ok, I choose that one!" he shouted, Palekit pointed to a long but thin den in the corner of the clearing, "Ah, the medicine cat den, nice pick young one!" Kestrelfoot shouted in congratulations. They walked over to the den and when they were a few tail-lengths away, they started to smell sweet scents, "what are they?" Palekit asked, "they are the herbs of course, what do you think the medicine cats do, sun themselves all day???" Blondekit shouted stubbornly, "brake up the fighting you two!" Kestrelfoot said, I believe Shorttail is out collecting herbs, so you just go to camp" he sofly said. And they walked back.

The next day, Palekit woke up before Blondekit, he was going to go exploring for himself. He needed to see Shorttail and he wanted to see more.

Chapter 4 The war

Palekit walked across the clearing until he came across a yucky smell, 'what is that he thought?'. He carried on until he reached the edge of the camp. A group of cats were Closing in on the entrance of the camp."Mummy? Mummy!" he cried he decided that going to Plotchclaw wasn't the best idea, so who was he to go to? I know he thought, Lilystar, she is the leader. He raced to the big cave where Lilystar was. "Lilystar, Lilystar!" he shouted, "what is it Palekit?" Lilystar replied sleepily, "Uh - a not-nice-smelling bunch of cats are closing in on the entrance!" he shouted, "Oh no!" Lilystar shouted, "Shadowclan". Lilystar raced out of her den 'wow' Palekit said to himself, 'I am going to be in my first fight. He ran over to Plotchclaw and Shinypelt, "Shadowclan are attacking!" He shouted, "they are?" Shinypelt asked, "yeah!" He replied. Lilystar came in just at that moment, "Quick, Plotchclaw and Shinypelt, you know what to do," she said in a hurry, "what or who are Shadowclan? Littlekit asked, "yeah what are they?" Mudkit replied. "Shadowclan are a group of cats, another of the four clans, there isn't Thunderclan, there is also Riverclan, Windclan and Shadowclan aswell. But Shadowclan are the worst of them all." Plotchclaw said. Palekit walked around the nursery, nudging all the other kits as he passed them. Littlekit, Mudkit and Blondekit all followed Palekit as they went into the secret den that Leafpaw made when she was a kit to hold Redkit and Spottedkit. "Alright, we may be kittens still, but we are determined to fight, if we fight the fight that is taking place tonight against Shadowclan, we would become apprentices, so - who is with me?" Palekit announced confidently, everyone put their paws up.

Palekit raced around the battlefield, past Birchlily and Tawnycloud, past Adderpelt, Patchfur, Minicloud, Birdflight, Brackenheart, Nettlewhisker, Fernclaw, Leafwhisker, Firecloud and Gorgebush. He also went past the Shadowclan warriors, 'Oh no! This is far too much for a kit like me!' Finaly he came across a Shadowclan warrior and apprentice. All the kits lined up, "Littlekit and Mudkit, you go for Woodpaw, and me and Blondekit will go for Wolftalon" he said. Littlekit and Mudkit swarmed all over Woodpaw, they were too fast and too small for Woodpaw to catch, like rats. Palekit and Blondekit were only a tiny bit bigger and were in big trouble. Blondekit suddenly slipped off Wolftalon and onto the ground, Woodpaw was dieing and they just had to defeat Wolftalon. Wolftalon crushed Blondekit, well, he was about to but Palekit jumped off Wolftalon and skidded to where Blondekit was and pushed her away, just in time to save her life. Blondekit, Palekit, Littlekit and Mudkit Jumped on top of Wolftalon and killed him, the war was over. Shadowclan were retreating, and Thunderclan were victorious.

Chapter 5 The ceremony

Palekit, Blondekit, Littlekit and Mudkit bounded into the clearing where the clan was gathering. I, Lilystar, Leader of Thunderclan look down on these kits as apprentices, Littlekit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Littlepaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, I, Lilystar, Leader of Thunderclan look down on this kit as an apprentice, Mudkit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Mudpaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, I, Lilystar, Leader of Thunderclan look down on this kit as an apprentice, Blondekit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Blondepaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan, I, Lilystar, Leader of Thunderclan look down on this kit as an apprentice, Palekit, from this day on, until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Palepaw thankyou for your part in Thunderclan. Finchpaw replied, "then by the powers of starclan I give you your warrior name, Finchpaw, from this day and on you will be known as Finchtail. Starclan honours your loyalty and your intelligence and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan. Littlepaw, Mudpaw, Palepaw and Blondepaw need mentors, Finchtail, you will train Blondepaw, Goldtail you will train Palepaw, Leafheart, you will train Littlepaw and Larkwhisker, you will train Mudpaw. We also have some bad news, Patchfur died in the battle, we will have his burial". That was it, Palepaw had had enough...

Chapter 6 The dusty Cave

Palepaw woke up the next day, it was late greenleaf and a fine day, Littlepaw and Mudpaw were out at the mouth of the cave having some play-fighting, and Blondepaw and himself were watching. "You know, I am very grateful of you Palepaw, you saved my life yesterday and the reward could be to extreme to exist, by the word of starclan, I say thankyou", Blondepaw said, "So you are going to come training with me and Goldtail today are you, your mentor Finchtail is sick - right?," Palepaw asked, "yes, so I hope Goldtail is good!" she replied happily, "Oh, he is" He replied. "Come on, lets go and see him" Palepaw said standing up and walking to the entrance of the cave where Littlepaw and Mudpaw were play-fighting. Goldtail arrived in a few seconds, and they walked off. They went past a few trees, until they came to a sunny clearing with a cave in the middle. 'Wow' Palepaw thought, it was great. "Alright, first of all, I know you've already been in a fight which means you don't really need any fighting practise, I'm just going to see how you do fight so I can assist you if you were doing it wrong, Fight each o-" suddenly, Larkwhisker and Mudpaw came out of the trees, "that is not how you train these kits, do you want to bring these kits up wrong? I know you, you are a trator, a mean cat who wants to destroy Thunderclan hey, well if you want to be Hungry for power, you can die!" he shouted, "what do you mean, I mean no harm to Thunderclan, please let me go!" Goldtail shreeked, "no not this time," he said, "Come on Blondepaw, we can't just sit and watch them fight!" Palepaw said quietly to her, "yeah - attack!".

The two launched themselves at Larkwhisker and pinned him to the ground. Suddenly, Mudpaw came leaping himself across Larkwhisker, knocking off Palepaw and Blondepaw. Palepaw had a nicked ear and Blondepaw's pads were bleeding they fought Mudpaw, and meanwhile, Larkwhisker fought Goldtail. 'How could Larkwishker and Mudpw do this to us?' he thought. Goldtail let out a screech and Mudpaw, Blondepaw and Palepaw turned to see Goldtail was losing his life. Blondepaw and Palepaw with Mudpaw ran over to him, "train well Blondepaw and Palepaw, I now you will take my place in this new mission, bye, I'll see you in you'r dreams, fare well Blondepaw and Palepaw" and he lay still. Mudpaw and Larkwhisker raced back to camp. "Goldtail, no!" Blondepaw cried, "It is alright Blondepaw" and he licked her on the head.

Chapter 7 The 2 deaths

They ran back to camp, as fast as they could with Goldtail's body. They ran straight up to Lilystar, "Lilystar, Goldtail was killed by Larkwhisker, please, exile him. Goldtail was killed by Larkwhisker" Palepaw and Blondepaw begged. "Larkwhisker, come here now! Did you?" she asked, "No, of course I di-" "You are exiled!" she said, "lets have a talk" Larkwhisker replied, and they went out of sight. "Oh Palepaw" Blondepaw said sadly, "Oh Palepaw what could happen next?" she cried, "how about we go and see Plotchclaw and Basilleaf?" he asked, "Ok". They walked over to the nursery, but Plotchclaw wasn't there, "what happened to JPlotchclaw?" Blondepaw asked, "she is a warrior again now!" Basilleaf replied, "And I'm going to be one again soon aswell!". "We'll check on her in the warriors den" Palepaw said with a sigh, "Ok" Blondepaw happily replied. As they walked over to the warriors den, Larkwhisker came back with Lilystar in his jaws, "Kestralfoot, Lilystar was murdered by a Shadowclan warrior!" Larkwhisker said with a worried face. "Oh no, did you see who it was?" he asked, "No" Larkwhisker replied, "then we shall have her vigil tonight, and I won't be able to atend it, for I'll be getting my nine lives" Kestralfoot said. 'Larkwhisker did it, I know that for sure, but, nobody will believe me' Palepaw thought. Kestralfoot went up to the highrock, "could all cats old enough to catch their own prey please come to the highrock" he rang out, Lilystar was murdered by a Shadowclan warrior, Larkwhisker was with her but he didn't see who it was. Tonight we will have Lilystar and Goldtail's vigil, and I will get my nine lives".

That night, Palepaw, Blondepaw, Littlepaw, Plotchclaw and more including Firecloud and Finchtail, all sat in between the two bodies of Goldtail and Lilystar. Palepaw closed his eyes and watching the night patrol and the prey. Molestar appeared, the same way he was in his other dreams. "Hello Palepaw. Don't worry about the 2 deaths, Goldtail and Lilystar. The entire Starclan knows that Larkwhisker killed both of them, and Lilystar and Goldtail's spirits are heading towards The dusty cave, were Kestralfoot gets his nine lives. Don't forget, P and B are great linked by tree..."

Suddenly he was woken by Blondepaw, "come on, Finchtail is going to teach us how to catch prey!" she whispered. "Oh okay", just then a familiar voice rang out across the camp: "could all cats old enough to catch their own prey please come to the highrock" Kestralstar said. Everyone gathered around, "I call you here to start of the day, it is late greenleaf now so make the most of it. My new deputy is Larkwhisker, for being brave and loyal", he said, 'Hardly loyal' he thought. Finchtail, Blondepaw and himself set out of the camp and into the woods. "Look, a mouse!" Blondepaw shouted, "sh! When you hunt mouse you are very quiet. Get down in a hunting crouch like this, Tail down, have light steps and when you think you are close enough, Jump!". Blondepaw and Palepaw with Finchtail went on with it all day.

Chapter 8 The Gathering

Kestralstar was up late preparing all of the warriors going to the gathering. Plotchclaw was going, Firecloud was going, Larkwhisker was going, and best of all, Palepaw, Blondepaw, Littlepaw and Mudpaw. The eight cats made their way through the woods, past the Dusty Cave and all the way to a huge clearing. There was a huge rock were Kestralstar, Hailstar, Mousestar and Lemonstar stood. "Welcome all" Mousestar announced "Windclan have been having no trouble with prey, but more trouble with a rat. A rat seems to have made its self at home in the corner of the elders den, and it is not doing any good, I am also on my last life, and Lilyfoot died of old age, so my new deputy is Applefoot!" everyone cheered. "Thankyou, Mousestar" Kestralstar said softly, "In Thunderclan, Lilystar was murdered and so was Goldtail. I am therefore Leader now with my nine lives, and Larkwhisker is my new deputy. May I introduce our two oldest apprentices: Palepaw and Blondepaw". Kestralstar flicked his tail signaling to them to come up to the highrock. Blondepaw and Palepaw nervously made their way up to the top of the highrock. It was scary, there were so many faces staring and them, cheering, so after a few seconds, they went down. "In Riverclan" Hailstar announced, "we are having swarms of fish and seriously have no idea where they came from. That is all I have to say." Hailstar said. "In Shadowclan we continue to thrive on good food, and tough times seem quite a way away. I did, a few days ago attack Thunderclan for their attack on us!" Lemonstar shouted, "When you killed Nighttail!" Kestralstar said. This was fight was obviously before He or Blondepaw were born because he'd never heard of such thing and his first fight was when Shadowclan attacked. "Anyway, Shadowclan are getting a little annoyed of the Giant Thunderpath that leads to Twolegclan". "What is 'Twolegclan'" Palepaw whispered in Fireclouds ear, "It is a clan of twolegs just a few days walk from the edge of the forest" the old warrior replied "Oh" Palepaw whispered back. Firecloud, Palepaw, Blondepaw and Littlepaw stood watching.

After the Gathering they all walked back to the camp, and Palepaw, Littlepaw Blondepaw and Mudpaw all fell asleep in the apprentice's den. The next day, they got the day off, tomorrow would be their last training session, and they would become warriors. It was a rainy day, early Leaf-fall and Palepaw, Blondepaw and Littlepaw were telling stories to each other. "One day, I closed my eyes to dream, when a giant yellow cat zoomed into my head, she was a catpire, she chased me around up and down - everywhere until I finally won!" Littlepaw said in a spooky voice.

Chapter 9 The final session

Palepaw and Blondepaw woke up and went on their last training session with Finchtail. They started off with some hunting. They were assesed and they all past. They later had to spring to action in a fight, a practise fight, their final training session was now nearly over. After a while, they met up with Littlepaw and Mudpaw who were with Larkwhisker. Littlepaw came over and sat with Palepaw and Blondepaw in the shade of the Dusty Cave. "I've been thinking guys, what are we going to do to get rid of Larkwhisker? We are all aware of what he did but it would take ages to convince Kestralstar!" Littlepaw asked, "we'll have to set up a trap for him!" Palepaw said, "I know what to do! One day, when Larkwhisker is on a patrol, we'll come back and tell him that Kestralstar appointed a new deputy and that he'll never become leader. Then he'll attack Kestralstar, we'll save Kestralstar, and then Kestralstar will have no choice but to exile him!" Blondepaw said confidently. "Ok" Littlepaw said softly, "sounds great!" Palepaw said. They got out of the cave and with Mudpaw, Larkwhisker and Finchtail, they went back to camp.

When they got to camp, they lay down in the apprentice's den and thought about their plan. "Alright, we'll start our plan tomorrow, we will pursuade Kestralstar now, to let Larkwhisker go on the morning patrol, and when he comes back, we'll tell him he's not deputy anymore" Blondepaw said, "so who is going to pursuade Kestralstar?" she asked, "I will" Palepaw replied. "Ok then, good luck!"

Palepaw walked across the camp, past the fresh-kill pile where he saw Mudpaw getting fresh-kill for the other apprentices, and came to the leader's den. "Kestralstar?" he said, "yes Palepaw" he replied, "Larkwhisker really badly wants to go on the morning patrol tomorrow, he sent me to tell you", Palepaw lied, "Ok, I'll make sure he goes on it tomorrow morning, thank you Palepaw" he replied. 'That was easy' Palepaw said to himself and he trotted back to the Apprentice's den. "So, did you pursuade him?" Littlepaw asked, "yes, it was easy!" Palepaw replied. "Pursuade who?" Mudpaw asked, "Oh, uh, just pursuading Plotchclaw, because she is a warrior again now to train one of the apprentices coming up" Blondepaw said, "Oh - Okay".

Chapter 10 Exiled!

The next morning, Blondepaw, Palepaw and Littlepaw were all out watching as Larkwhisker set off for the morning patrol. "Alright, we need to rehearse what we are going to say" Blondepaw said, "I have an Idea!" Littlepaw said, "well all we need to do is bri-" Littlepaw was interrupted, "he'll never beleive us guys! we need someone who is on our side, someone who knows the truth, we need a warrior to pass this message to Larkwhisker, and we need a senior warrior, a warrior with great importance." Palepaw said, "So does anyone have any warriors who are going to believe us and who would do it for us, but is still senior and very important?" Littlepaw asked, "No, I don't," Blondepaw said worriedly, "well I do!" Palepaw said, "Who?" Littlepaw and Blondepaw said at the same time, "Firecloud of course. He's on our side, he is an old and respected warrior, decades older than Larkwhisker, and he'll do it for us!" Palepaw shouted, "Oh yeah" Littlepaw and Blondepaw replied. The three set off to the warriors den, Firecloud was easy to spot because of the colour of his pelt. "Follow us, we have got to speak to you in private" Palepaw said. Palepaw, Firecloud, littlepaw and Blondepaw all walked out to the entrance of the camp. "What do you want?" he asked, "We know that you know Larkwhisker killed Goldtail and Lilystar, and he should be exiled, so here is our marvelous plan. We have completed step one of the plan which is to pursuade Kestralstar that Larkwhisker whould go on the morning patrol, which of course is about to come back, and now we need you to tell Larkwhisker that Kestralstar announced that I am deputy and you are not, anymore deputy," Palepaw stated, "Why do you need me?" Firecloud asked, "because you are the only senior and respected warrior that knows and believes the truth." Palepaw replied, "So, will you do it?" Blondepaw asked, "I will - look here they come now!" Firecloud said. Palepaw, Blondepaw and Littlepaw raced back to the apprentice's den. "Lets watch!" Littlepaw said, "Ok" Blondepaw replied. Firecloud seperated Larkwhisker from the patrol and took him to a corner. They stood there talking for a few minutes, until Larkwhisker stood back in fury, hissing and spitting. Larkwhisker ran to the Leader's Den, and Blondepaw, Littlepaw and Palepaw followed with Firecloud. Larkwhisker walked in, "Why would you do this?!" he said angrily, suddenly he flew ontop of Kestralstar and scraped him, Kestralstar let off a whine, and Palepaw, Blondepaw and Littlepaw came pounding in. Other cats came because of the noise: Birchlily, Shorttail, practically the whole clan, and Larkwhisker was pulled off by Palepaw and Blondepaw. Kestralstar had lost 3 lives in the fight, and Shorttail was there ready for the emergancy. Palepaw said, "so now you can see, who really killed Lilystar because she knew that he had killed Goldtail. Murdering Goldtail, then murdering Lilystar because she knew about it is not good, let out a 'Meow' if you agree he should be exiled" everyone Meowed. "Good!" Kestralstar went up the highrock. "I, Kestralstar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of the noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Palepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" he asked "I do" Palepaw replied, "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. "Paleheart, Paleheart, Littlepelt, Littlepelt, Mudcloud, Mudcloud, Blondeclaw, Blondeclaw!"

"I also have some one to exile, Larkwhisker, from this day and on you are exiled!" Kestralstar shouted out. "Kestralstar, I have to reveal myself aswell, I may have not murdered Lilystar and Goldtail, but I helped him plan it, and therefore I will stick to my leader!" Mudcloud said angrily, "then you are exiled aswell!" and the two ran off.

Chapter 11 Patrol

The next day, Paleheart and Blondeclaw were pondering around the camp when they bumped into Leafheart, Spottedshine and Redpelt, Paleheart's only remaining siblings. "Well done" Spottedshine said, "yeah, I can see you as being a good leader" Redpelt replied, "But Redpelt, Paleheart will not become leader, remember the prophecy?" Leafheart said, "Oh yes, P and B are great linked by tree, But leader P will not be". "You guys got that message aswell!" Blondeclaw shouted, "I got it aswell," Paleheart said, "well only half of it. I didn't get the leader bit" Paleheart replied. Suddenly, Finchtail, Tawnyfoot, Clawedtail and Shadowcloud came in, "you two are on patrol now" Shadowcloud said calmly. "Ok" Blondeclaw replied. Paleheart and Blondeclaw went out on patrol with Firecloud and Pinesong when Blondeclaw came across a fresh scent of Fox and a fresh scent of Mudcloud. "Firecloud, Pinesong, Paleheart, come over here!" she called out. "What is it?" Pinesong said, "fox" Firecloud added in, "and Mudcloud!" Paleheart said. "Good find Blondeclaw!" Firecloud said, "Mudcloud and Larkwhisker are probaly trying to kill someone from ThunderClan. That reminds me of when ThunderClan had so many cats, half the Clan left. All my cousins and grand-uncles, all of them." Firecloud said, "enough of that, it is over now, and ThunderClan is in a better shape now!" Pinesong said, "yes. Now we need to find these stray foxes. They could be anywhere - at least we know that they are not far from here!" Paleheart said. "Me and Blondeclaw will go and search for them following the scent, and you guys follow some where else" Paleheart said, "Ok" Pinesong replied. Blondeclaw and Paleheart followed a fox scent that lead to a den. Inside the den were five fox cubs. Paleheart had heard from his mother, who was told from an elder who is now dead - Cranewhisker, a descendant of a great ThunderClan medicine cat Jayfeather, that three kits called Lionkit, Hollykit and Jaykit had come across fox cubs, and they all survived! When faced with times like this, he had to remember what to do. Blondeclaw and Paleheart took a closer look at the foxes, and discovered that they were all dead. "Why would - " her sentance was cut short. Larkwhisker came springing out of nowhere and pounced ontop of Paleheart. Blondeclaw ran to the patrol of Firecloud and Pinesong and disappeared. Paleheart fought and fought Lark whisker off, but he kept on coming back on. They fought and fought until Blondeclaw finally came back with Firecloud and Pinesong. The three pulled Larkwhisker off Paleheart, and Larkwhisker headed into the den.

Paleheart fainted and the next minute he knew, he was lying in a moss bed in the medicine cat's den. "Where am I?" Paleheart asked Hailcloud who leaned over him patching him up with cobwebs, "and where is Shorttail?" he asked again. "Shorttail was just made an elder, along with: Adderpelt, Birchlily, Patchfur, Minicloud, Birdflight, Brackenheart, Nettlewhisker, Fernclaw, Leafwhisker, Tawnycloud, Firecloud, and Gorgebush. Oh yeah, and Finchtail is in the nursery with Littlepelt's new kits. They aren't named yet but we know that one of them is going to be called Littlekit, named after her father." "Look I'm fine" Paleheart said standing up. He walked out of the den to find Kestralstar up on the highrock. "Hi, feeling alright Paleheart. You are just in time for the naming ceremony of Littlepelt's kits. Shorttail is now an elder, although he is currently with Blondeclaw who is giving birth to your kits. They are due tomorrow. Anyway, This Fire and white coloured kit will be called Littlekit in favour of her father. This Red she-kit will be called Redkit, and this other red she-kit will be called Juniperkit. Thankyou."

Chapter 12 The attack and the kits

"Paleheart,Lilyfeather, Littlepelt, Pinesong and Plotchclaw, you will come with me to the gathering ok?" Kestralstar rang across the clearing, "Yes" the five replied. "Lets go," and they went off. Paleheart walked up the twiggy path that lead to a huge clearing on RiverClan and ShadowClans territory. There was still a while until they reached the Rocked-clearing, but Paleheart just kept on going. Blondeclaw was in the nursery with her kits being born right as Paleheart thought. He was very sad that he couldn't be there. He was sure the great leader Firestar would have been there for his kits to be born. He could remember the names of his kits, although only just, one was Squirrelflight and the other was Leafpool. He kept on padding through the forest until they came to a tree. The tree had ben disturbed by a monster from the Thunderpath, and it was falling. "Oh no - look at that tree, it is going to fall right ontop of us!" Lilyfeather cried, "oh no," Plotchclaw said. "Come on - run!" Pinesong said. Those three were the three behind, so they were the ones with the tree problem, "quicker, the wind is changing direction - other way" Paleheart panted frantically, trying to find his breath as he saw the three get tangled up by an all ready fallen down tree, and - he couldn't watch. The tree came crashing down on top of Lilyfeather, Plotchclaw and Pinesong. "There is no chance they could of survived" Littlepelt said crying. They picked up the bodies and put them in a safe place, and continued on to the Rocked-Clearing.

"Why do you look so upset?" Snakestar the new leader of RiverClan asked. "And why have you only got 2 people with you?", "a tree killed most of the cats coming to the gathering" he said sulkily. "Then we will have a few moments in silence" Mousestar said. Everyone went into silence, when they heard a rustling from a bracken bush behind Hailstar, Larkwhisker and Mudcloud jumped out of the bushes, and then, millions of cats came with him, "welcome to SolClan!" Larkwhisker said, "attack!" Mudcloud said. All the cats went into a huge battle.

Paleheart and Littlepelt with Kestralstar were being chased back to camp by Larkwhisker, Mudcloud and five others. "We'll get you!" one of the shouted, "yes feathertooth, attack!" Mudcloud said for the millionth time. They saw the camp ahead, cats were ready, Blondeclaw was among them. They raced into camp, turned around and fought. Kestralstar and Paleheart went up to the highrock shouting orders. It was good to see Basilleaf in the attack, although not good to see her half-dead being carried to the medicine cats den. The Clan had heard about Pinesong, Lilyfeather and Plotchclaw, and were defantly showing their revenge. After a while, the five others were dead and Littlepelt was fighting Larkwhisker, and Blondeclaw was fighting Mudcloud. "Blondeclaw!" he shouted, worried about her fate. Both of them were fighting hard, Larkwhisker was really attacking Littlepelt hard, "what's daddy doing?" Juniperkit's tiny voice mewled from the nursery, "sh Juniperkit" Finchtail calmed. Suddenly, Larkwhisker lunged himself ontop of Littlepelt and sunk his teeth into Littlepelt's neck, cats rushed from the sides trying to stop Larkwhisker, but they couldn't kill him. The crowd ran back and Larkwhisker got off Littlepelt. He was stained with Blood, Leafheart came rushing in from the crowd, scars all over her, "he's dead!" she shouted. That was it, killing my brother, leader and now probaly closest ever freind apart from Blondeclaw. He jumped down from the rock, landing with a thud, and pouncing ontop of Larkwhisker, "you think you can do it hey?" Larkwhisker said, he kicked his legs, but Paleheart moved up, clawing is face off, he dug his hind legs into Larkwhisker's fur, and toar it off, he sunk his teeth into Larkwhiskers neck and then stood off. "I just want to say, all along, I have wanted to tell you," he paused, "Paleheart, there will be four kin of your kin with the power of the forest", and he died. Paleheart looked at Mudcloud and Blondeclaw, Blondeclaw was lying on the ground rolling and screeching in pain, and Mudcloud was dead. That was it, he and Blondeclaw had saved the forest! He fainted.

Next minute, he was in The Medicine cats den, next to Blondeclaw and two kittens only a few hours old sleeping peacefully in between him. "good morning Paleheart. These are our two kits, that one is Cliffkit, and that one is Borriskit", she said, "that is nice" he replied, he licked Cliffkit's head gently, and then Borriskit's. "They remind me of the day Littlepelt and Mudcloud were born" Paleheart said laughing, "yeah" Blondeclaw said sad. "What is wrong?" he asked, "my injuries are so bad, I'm going to have to move to the elders den" Blondeclaw sad sulking. "Look at us three!" Juniperkit said pounding in, "yes Juniperkit!" Paleheart said sitting up, "no - Juniperpaw, Redpaw and Littlepaw!" Littlepaw said excited. "My mentor is Leafheart!" Juniperpaw said happily, "my mentor is Hailcloud!" Redpaw said, "and my mentor is Tawnyfoot!" Littlepaw said last of all.

"Could all cats old enough to catch their own prey please come to the highrock" Kestralstar's voice rang out, "my deputy is Leafheart. Now, Blondeclaw's serious injuries kept Hailcloud and Redpaw up all night last night. They are healed, but she is in a position were she can't be a warrior or a queen because of the injuries. Blondeclaw, we respect what you have done for the forest, you saved it, along with Paleheart, and because of this, your elder name will be Blondefur, you will have the name 'fur' in reminder of what you have done for the forest." "thankyou" Blondefur said, "it is best for me" she repeated. "Wait!" Paleheart shouted out, everyone gazed at Paleheart, "I can't leave you alone Blondefur, I know that you will be with the other elders, but I can't be a warrior without you. If she is to be an elder, then so will I!" Paleheart said, "Very well Paleheart, if that is your wish. We respect what you have done for the forest, you saved it, along with Blondefur, and because of this, your elder name will be Palefur, you will have the name 'fur' in reminder of what you have done for the forest." Kestralstar concluded, "thankyou".

Chapter 13 The deal

Palefur stood up and stretched. It had been a long night, and he was ready for a new day. He trodded out of the den and walked over to Kestralstar who was in his den talking to Leafheart. "Hi Palefur!" Leafheart said happily as he walked in. "Hi, I, want to say something to Kestralstar" he said, "right here" Kestralstar said hiding in his warm moss bed in the corner of his den. "Hi. I just wanted to say, while I am in the elders' den, is it allowed that I can still continue with warrior duties?" he asked, "yes! Of course. We would be very grateful, you can be the last cat in the Dawn patrol, well, off you go!" he said quickly. It was a little too quickly for Palefur. The entire morning had been a little rushed. Today was the day that Tawnyfoot, and Blondefur and his own brothers and sisters were to become elders. Tawnyfoot was Littlepaw's mentor, he was going to be an elder, and Leafheart was Juniperpaw's mentor, so Juniperpaw and Littlepaw would have to change mentors. Hopefully, Kestralstar would pick Palefur for either Littlepaw or Juniperpaw, or he might even keep him for Cliffkit or Borriskit! He continued padding along until he saw Lilyfeather looking for the last cat. "Hi Lilyfeather, I am the last cat on Dawn patrol, so, lets go." Palefur and Lilyfeather caught up with the rest of the patrol: Shadowcloud, Redpelt and Spottedshine. They ran out into the forest until they came to a Thunderpath. Monsters rarely drove across the thunderpaths surrounding ThunderClan's territory, but every now and then one did come. "Very fresh scent markers by RiverClan!" Spottedshine said, "nothing to be worried about!" Redpelt said, "Their patrol just wasn't very long ago!" he said again.
