How it All Began

The four original clans- ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan and ShadowClan- have fallen due to a war with some unfamiliar bands of cats, claiming they wanted to have revenge and that they were in fact clans from before these. The reason was never revealed why they wanted ‘revenge’, but they did defeat the four clans.

RoseClan

Yep you guessed it. The overly famous RoseClan, filled with the most beautiful she-cats the forest has. They are also known for their unusual choice of camp, in an area at the heart of the forest, where the fields are rich with gorgeous roses and juicy berries, along with succulent prey, such as luxurious deer and delicious wild hare. These cats come mostly in bright gingers or white, but there are some cases where the cats posses varieties light chocolate pelts or deep blacks, with slim figures and glossy pelts. They’re loyal and ambitious, but very proud. Sometimes too proud for their own good. They’re mostly kind and helpful cats, always up for a therapy discussion depending on,... well, whatever, but they can be quite tactless. This clan is mostly famous for its many herb supplies, which grow all season long. If I was to be a medicine cat, that’s where I’d like to get my resources. The cats here are very... spiritual if I put it nicely, and consider themselves closer to StarClan.

MeadowClan

This clan is... complicated... The leader has some problems with the other clans, and there are usually unwanted arguments at the Gatherings, and their camp, as the name suggests, is literally set in a meadow, which is at the back of the forest, near the Great River. Most cats assume the clan has gotten its name from their leader- Meadowstar- as tradition suggests, but actually, it’s the other way around! Meadowstar actually set camp in the flowering meadow, and named it MeadowClan, then took on the name of Meadowstar, rejecting his former name, Shadedblade. These cats are mostly shades of black, golden and fawn, but you will find a few gingers ever here and there. The clan is full of stereotypical cats, and by that, I mean pretty sexist. The toms are always trying to prove their worth the the she-cats, and are always boasting about their battle scars, hunts, or even just for how long they sharpened their claws and on what. The she-cats are... how can I put this nicely?... Shallow. Shallow and pretty stupid when it comes to self defence, although they’re great mothers for kits and show great kindness to any cat. You will mostly find them chatting and gossiping about, well, what you would expect; love, kits, families, toms, love, toms, toms, advice, toms, how they look, toms... oh! And I almost forgot: toms.

MarshClan

Ooo here comes the interesting bit! Ah, I was kidding. Nothing interesting about this clan. MarshClan is what we all want to be like- fierce, ruthless, brave, muscular, strong... right? These cats have made their home in a marshy land, with murky waters and a lot (and by a lot, I mean A LOT) of bubbling mud. Their camp is basically filled with dried ferns and large trees surround the edges. The cats are sarcastic realists, possibly cynical pessimists who enjoy to just hunt slimy toads, croaky frogs, screechy crows, and well, anything. To blend in with their darkened, shadowy surroundings they’re mostly dark grey, shiny blacks, and oak browns, but, very rarely, a ginger or lighter grey. The thick marsh around them protects them from most attackers such as stinking foxes or the stumbling badgers that MeadowClan often whines and whimpers about.

MountainClan

As the name suggests, this group of cats live in the Warm Mountains near the marsh where MarshClan nestles, and is quite content to living in the harsh stone textures every day of their lives. They hunt your usual things, such as glorious hawks, quick eagles, and slithery eels from the river that runs through the chunk of stone. They’re mostly fuzzy, spiky-haired pelted cats with light blonde, cream and pale silver coats, to blend in with the grey rocky surface and the sweet flowers climbing up it. Fun Fact! The leader thought her clan needed a better camp than the other clans, and first set camp in the original ThunderClan camp, but during a thunderstorm a huge tree collapsed in the camp and destroyed the camp, so they then moved to the Warm Mountains. The irony is amazing! Also, great planning Mountainstar! You deserve an award for your oh-so-smart decisions!

FrostClan

And finally, the last of the clans! This clan is filled with handsome, air-headed toms and rough, tough she-cats. The exact opposite of MeadowClan. The cats live in another set of mountains, but these mountains are nothing like the exotic and cozy Warm Mountains. The camp is set at the very top of the higher mountains, set at the very back of the forest, where glistening snow falls always all year round. This clan lives on anything they can find, since the prey there is so scarce they practically have to fight over it, and might even have to go into the forest for hunting in leaf-bare! Although it’s rare that the cats will fill their bellies, when they do have prey it’s delicious and luxurious, such as white weasels and other amazing meals. I’d personally freeze to death there, but that’s just me. Anyways, these cats are pure, glittering white pelted with rare cases of white-ish greys and sometimes even pale gold. They’re slim and skinny, and extremely nimble, like the MountainClan cats, to help them leap from rock to rock without tumbling down to unspeakably painful oblivion.

Terminology and Beliefs

These clans have the same terminology as the four original clans and mostly the same beliefs, but they also believe in the Silver Guides, which are a rank below StarClan. They are 10 chosen cats by the high, amazing ranks of StarClan to protect the clans with their life, and are given special powers:

-If the cat chosen is blind, they can communicate with the cats of StarClan and they will show them what to do in the situation.

-If the cat chosen is deaf/ mute then they will be guided by StarClan to help them forge their path in the clan.

-The cats will be able to receive messages and understand omens better than normal cats, no matter what their rank is.

-If the cat is crippled, they will receive strength and bravery to help them face the problems

The new clans also believe that they will descend to StarClan if deceased, but if they led a bad life they will go to Pool of Abyss, which if their definition of the Dark Forest.

The Warrior and Medicine Cat Code(s)

So these cats’ codes are quite different to the four original clan codes, but not that much.

Warrior Code

  1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
  2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory without the Clan’s permission
  3. Elders, queens, sick or injured cats and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
  4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
  5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
  6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
  7. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires, or is exiled.
  8. After the death, retirement, promotion (to a leader status), or exile of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
  9. A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
  10. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
  11. No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.
  12. The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
  13. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
  14. Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the five. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall.
  15. A cat may take on a mate from a different clan, but they should be prepared for the consequences (they may have to fight them in certain times)
  16. If the leader has fallen, the deputy must take on the prefix of their clan’s name and the suffix ‘-star’

Medicine Cat Code

  1. Medicine cat apprentices shall be given their Medicine cat name before their mentor descends to StarClan
  2. Medicine cat apprentices are not to be forced into the role
  3. Medicine cats shall not refuse to treat any cat, whether they are their own clan, or a different clan
  4. Medicine cats must also respect their clan leader, like all other clan cats
  5. Medicine cats are allowed to take on a mate from their own clan (or from another clan), although they must not refuse to treat other cats if their chosen kin is ill/ injured
  6. Medicine cats shall not be stopped on their way to the Silver Lake
  7. Medicine cat apprentices must be taught all about the basic herbs and remedies before their mentor descends to StarClan

8: Medicine cat apprentices may leave their rank to become a warrior apprentice if they wish to, or if they are not approved of by StarClan

Scrapped Rules:

1) A cat shall only take a mate from their own clan

2) Medicine cats shall not have a mate or kits

Meeting Calls

Obviously, these cats must have meetings, but their meeting calls are different from the original clans’ calls.

RoseClan meeting call: All cats ready to leap into the thorn bushes gather below the Blossomed Branch for a clan meeting!

MeadowClan meeting call: All cats ready to race into the meadows gather below the Blazing Ridge for a clan meeting!

MarshClan meeting call: All cats ready to crawl through the mud gather around the Gritted Stone for a clan meeting!

MountainClan meeting call: All cats ready to climb the mountain’s steep cliff’s gather below the Lush Log for a clan meeting!

FrozenClan meeting call: All cats ready to enter the frost’s mist gather around the Chilled Boulder for a clan meeting!

Glossary

By now, I think you all who have read this have realised that some of the things I’ve mentioned aren’t explained quite clearly. Well, that’s because I wanted this page to be longer and wanted to add another important and fancy looking category! Yes, I understand that’s weird. But moving on from that, this glossary will explain more about certain things these new Clans beliefs and a little snippet of more information about each Clan.

RoseClan- Slim cats with glossy pelts, which are often found in the following colours: ginger, white, occasionally smoky black, light blonde. Home to the most beautiful she-cats of the forest.

MeadowClan- Sleek, skinny cats with pelts in varying colours: black, fawn and possibly dark and/or light gold. Full of stereotypical cats.

MarshClan- Scruffy, broad cats with dull pelts, often in the colours: dark grey, deep black and oak browns. Possibly home of the biggest killing machines in the forest.

MountainClan- Spiky, fuzzy-pelted cats with unusual colours such as: cream, light blonde and pale silver. Quiet, chubby kitties infest their camp from day to night.

FrostClan- Muscular (yet somehow they are still skinny... huh.) cats with one primary colour on their thick pelt: glittering white, but maybe, just maybe, a light grey. The complete opposite of MeadowClan.

Warm Mountains- Where MountainClan have set their camp, near MarshClan’s swamp.

Frozen Mountains- At the opposite side of the forest to the Warm Mountains, and the home of FrostClan.

Blossomed Heart- Where RoseClan has set its camp, at the heart of the forest.

Crows Nest- The swamp in which MarshClan has made its home.

Shined Meadow- The sunny meadow which MeadowClan calls home.

Silver Guides- The rank chosen by StarClan to become, well, the rank below them. They are a group of 10 chosen cats which have a sworn duty to make sure all cats from all clans are safe.

Silver Lake- The sacred place of all the clans, similar to the Moonstone or the Moonpool. The Silver Guides are given a prophecy to meet up there when they are first chosen, and where they meet up for ‘meetings’ to discuss what to do if there is a crisis. The lake also had special healing abilities, but only Medicine Cats are allowed to use those abilities and even then only as a last option.

Great River- Where all the cats from all the clans go to drink water, and it runs throughout the whole forest, dividing the two halves; the shadowed half and the lit half. It also never runs dry, as there is a huge waterfall at one end of it, which is also connected to an immense dam (how it gets all its water? The cats are still unsure of it, but they suppose because of the occasional heavy rain they receive). The true logic behind it is still to be discovered, but if it helps them survive, the Clans are fine with it. The cats also gather here for Gatherings, which are called whenever the Silver Guides think the clan leaders all need to decide so,etching together.

The ‘Lit Half’- The lit half is called ‘lit half’ quite frankly because, well, the Clans that life there have very open camps and there isn’t anywhere that is particularly wet or... murky I suppose?

The ‘Shadowed Half’- This half gets is name, again, by which Clans live there. MountainClan camp is there of course, but MarshClan’s swampy territory takes up mostly everything, so it earned its name as ‘shadowed’. MountainClan still has a large territory, but it’s mostly in the vast mountains and not on the ground.

The End?!

Yes, I’m sorry, but it’s the end. No, not the end of the world! Just the end of this page. Thanks for reading, and click the link at the very top of this page for the story by me (QuailFrost) and my friend XxWillowWindxX ! Hope this was useful for the story and hopefully nobody will be confused at what the new terminology is. Anyways, have a nice day/night and may StarClans & the Silver Guides light your path!
