Now that we have started making character pages for our FanFics, I would like to know what you think about this. specificaly:

  1. Are character articles a good idea? (1-10 scale, 10 is amazing idea, 1 is terrible idea)
  2. Should characters be placed on Subpages for the FanFic or their own pages, and why?
  3. What templates do you think are needed?
  4. How should a character page look? (link to a sample)

Your answers will affect to potential guidelines for character pages. Thank you, Swifty{Asterisks} 00:10, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, most Canon based stories won't have to have character outlines, but I agree that some of our Role Play fics may need them to clear up small details about made-up characters. But back to your questions.

On #1, I'm actually not that sure what you meant, did you mean, "Do you think the character pages are a good idea- rate on a scale of 1-10?" or, "Should we have a rating system for stories; Members (or random people) can rate the story on a scale of 1-10 so that the writer knows what to improve and so on?"

As for #2, I don't think we have to actually create whole new pages for characters- that would be way to confusing- especially if there's a sequel or something. I think we should just have them post it on a Subpage (that's were you do: [[Fanfic/Character page]], right?). Clean, but easy to get to.

#3: Well, a Non-Canon warning for new characters of course, maybe something close (but not exact) to the Charcat, ummmm, I'm not offering much help for #3, I? 0_o

Can't do #4 right now, don't have time. Hope you liked my suggestions and if not, sorry for wasting your time.... Shoot, now I'm getting myself depressed again lol. Snowbird23 23:17, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

1. i give a 9. 2.That should depend on the user if they want to. 3.Just the Charcat and maybe the spoiler one for stories. 4. they should look like the ones on Warrior Wikia. Wolfstar13 00:55, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Snowbird, I fixed the question for you. The second meaning, regarding ratings, will likely be used when I start writing a policy for FanFic categorization, since all of our "quality" FanFics should be in one category. Also, subpages are made using the code that you referenced. The non-canon and spoiler templates are being worked on in my head. For my brief answers,

  1. 8
  2. subpages, for reasons referenced by Snowbird. I have trouble explaining that better.
  3. spoilers, non-canon.
  4. Jayfeather's Other Prophecy/Maplestar

Thanks on #1, I was a bit confused. But yeah, I give the idea a 7, because I don't think it's absolutly necessary, but they would be a help for the complete Non-Canon characters. But we'd also have to make sure that people don't create an article for Canon characters; members can just go to the WWikia to know about them. And makes sense about the ratings, so we can put things in the featured article slot thingy.
For #2, well, I already put that up there, didn't I...
For #3, Spoilers would be a good idea, I forgot that some people out there haven't read some of the latest books. And if we have them, would we just do the regular one that the WWiki uses? or one for each book that it spoils (which would take forever but be more efficient). I'm thinking a regular one.
For #4, I saw swifty's Maplestar page a while ago and thought, yeah, this is how we should do it. So I'm totally with you on that one, but we'll still have to come up with guidelines and fix minor errors. Snowbird23 22:28, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
