Prologue (Hope)

Darkness.

I am falling into an abyss of darkness.

FIdgiting, I get up from my nest and stare out the entrance of my den.

The night sky in beautiful but a storm is brewing.

The stars twinkle on my brown pelt. Does StarClan approve of me?

In front of my eyes, a lightning bolt crackles down.

The lightning sparks a flame on a fallen tree branch.

"Wake up!" I screech to my fellow apprentices.

My best friend, Blossompaw wakes up.

"What is it?" she asks.

Before I can answer she has spotted the flame.

"Wake up everyone!" she yells.

Flamepaw wakes up, irritated but before he can speak he spots the growing fire.

"I will go wake the kits and queens!" he mews before running off.

"I will wake the warriors!" explains Blossompaw before running off as well.

I sprint to the elders den, moving my legs as fast as they can go.

"Wake up!" I screech.

Wrenwing and Hazestripe wake up immediatley.

They spot the flame and ask. "Where do we go?"

"Go to the RiverClan border!" I order before sprinting off to Fallenstar's den.

I now feel like I am running on air. My pelt seems to blow in the wind like leaves on a tree.

I tumble into Fallenstar's den.

"Fire! Get to the RiverClan border!" I pant.

He nods his head before running off. I know that he is the leader, but in a crisis our leader should be safe.

I quickly do a lap around camp making sure no cat is left behind.

I meet Flamepaw and Blossompaw.

"Is everyone out?" I ask.

They nod their head sin unison.

We sprint off to the RiverClan border. When we arrive I see my fellow ThunderClan cats.

There murmurs of worry seem to make me even more scared.

What will happen to ThunderClan?

When will I go back home?

Chapter One (Rain)

Blossompaw loomed over the river, careful not to let her shadow hit the waters. Then the moment a fish swam over, she swiped her claws through the water, hooked a fish with her claws, and brought the fish out of the water. The fish flopped on the ground but before it could get close to the river, Blossompaw killed it with a swift bite to the neck.

When Blossompaw got back to camp she dropped the fish into the fresh-kill before padding up to the elders' den.

"Hi, Crookedfang! Anything that I can help out with?" Blossompaw asked she approached the black tom with a misshapen fang

"Oh! Blossompaw! Can you please get me some new bedding?" Crookedfang asked

"Sure!" Blossompaw replied before padding out of camp and into the forest

Blossompaw padded over to a tree that was completely covered in moss. Right as she was about to grab the moss she heard some whispers coming from nearby. Blossompaw then padded over to where the whispers were coming from and saw that it was a patrol. Blossompaw let out a sigh of relief before padding back to the moss and grabbing a couple of pawfuls. Blossompaw then suddenly saw a distracted bird was sitting right in front of her. Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to also get a piece of prey for the clan. Blossompaw thought before lightly setting the moss down and leaping into a hunting crouch. Blossompaw then began to stalk towards the bird before she leaped and landed square on top of the bird. The bird squirmed and cawed under her weight but Blossompaw cut off its screams with a bite to the neck. The body immediately went limp so Blossompaw dug a hole before burying her fresh-kill. Then Blossompaw picked her moss back up before heading back to camp.

When Blossompaw was done making the elder's nest she padded back to where she buried her catch, snatched it up, and then returned to camp and dropped it into the fresh-kill pile.

Chapter Two (Hope)

Acornpaw sighed. The fire had destroyed some of the camp but not all of it. They were just living in the scraps that the fire didn't want.

Acornpaw padded up to Blossompaw.

"Hey Blossompaw!" greeted Acornpaw.

"Hi Acornpaw!" smiled Blossompaw.

Acornpaw plastered a fake smile on her face. Acornpaw was happy to see her friend but the fire's damage wasn't very smile-worthy.

Acornpaw's tail flicked. She saw Flamepaw and walked up to him.

"Hi Acornpaw!" he grinned.

She looked down at her paws, shifting them uncomfortably.

"You want to go hunting?" he asked.

Acornpaw nodded and the two apprentices made their way into the forest. The smells flooded her nose and Acornpaw felt free.

Free from her worries.

Free from her pain.

She could smell the bark of trees and the flowers. It was one of Acornpaw's favourite things about being a clan cat.

Chapter Three (Rain)

Blossompaw stared at the remains of her once beautiful camp. Memories of the fire began to flood back, ever since that day she had turned her back on Starclan, after all, how could they allow for Thunderclan's camp to be destroyed? How could they let Thunderclan endure the suffering they were facing now? If Starclan was as good as they sounded then they wouldn't let Thunderclan suffer like this. Blossompaw walked over to her friend, Twigpaw.

"Hey, Twigpaw! Would you like to go hunting with me?" Blossompaw asked

"Like I would have time to go hunting with you." Twigpaw scoffed haughtily before padding away

Blossompaw was then left alone, not even Starclan was with her. Blossompaw couldn't understand why Twigpaw was so mean to her. Blossompaw and Twigpaw used to be so close but now the pale brown she-cat seemed to hate her. Blossompaw shrugged it off before laying down. Blossompaw's mentor, Petalcry had died in the fire. Blossompaw loved her mentor, Petalcry was her mom's littermate after all. Her mom, Lilysong, who was the medicine cat, had also died in the fire. Blossompaw was even more confused with Twigpaw's behavior towards her because Lilysong had died rescuing Twigpaw and Twigpaw's mother. Well, I might as well be useful and hunt some more. Blossompaw thought before getting up and padding out of camp. Blossompaw made her way to the Riverclan border to see if there was any prey there. Blossompaw eventually ended up at the river.

"Urrgh! How do Thunderclan cats eat this?" She heard a tom growl from a nearby bush

Blossompaw suspiciously padded over to the bush before poking her head inside to find a yellow tom tearing at a rabbit with his teeth. The tom was an apprentice, maybe a moon older than Blossompaw, and smelled of Riverclan.

"What are you doing?" Blossompaw challenged

The tom turned his head to Blossompaw, bewildered. "S-sorry! I just wanted to see what the rabbit tasted like! I didn't mean to cause any trouble!" The tom began to apologize

Blossompaw began to feel pity for the tom, he truly did seem sorry. Well nobody will want that rabbit now, it has Riverclan saliva on it. Blossompaw thought.

"Hey, I'll let you off easy, if you share the rabbit with me, and tell me your name." Blossompaw offered

"Thank you!" The tom replied before shuffling over to make room for Blossompaw

Blossompaw climbed into the bush and laid down before tearing off the skin of the rabbit.

"So whats your name?" Blossompaw asked

"Kelppaw, what about you?" Kelppaw replied through a mouthful of rabbit

"Blossompaw," Blossompaw answered as she took a bite

"Hmm, the rabbit doesn't taste nearly as bad as I thought," Kelppaw commented. "I mean fish will always be my preference but still."

"Yeah, rabbit is my favorite ,n Blossompaw agreed

"Um, Blossompaw?" Kelppaw addressed

"Yeah?" Blossompaw replied

"Um, can we start meeting here every half-moon?" Kelppaw asked

Blossompaw was silent for a moment.

"Sure."

Chapter Four (Hope)

Acornpaw lept into a hunter's crouch as she snuck up on a vole. She could almost taste it. She licked her lips and stepped forward as silently as possible. Her brown pelt seemed to blend in the earth. Acornpaw sniffed the air, making sure it was blowing to her advantage. She crept forward and steadied herself so she could make the jump. She lept into the air and pounced on the vole. She swiped it with claws unsheathed, killing it with one blow. She picked up the limp vole in her mouth and walked back to Flamepaw.

"That was a great catch!" smiled Flamepaw.

"Thank you!" nodded Acornpaw.

The wind ruffled her pelt and Acornpaw purred. The scent of RiverClan was stronger here but Acornpaw didn't mind.

If they trespassed, we would have known about it.

Acornpaw dug a hole, placing the vole in it. She kicked the dirt over the top and placed a stick over the pile so she knew where it was.

Flamepaw and Acornpaw walked side by side, towards the river. Flamepaw was smiling and Acornpaw smiled back.

I love having friends. Flamepaw and Blossompaw are definitely my best friends.

Once the tow arrived at the river, Acornpaw bent down and lapped at the sparkling water. Today, it tasted fresh and didn't smell like fish.

"Hey look!" shouted Flamepaw and pointed with his paw to movement in the river.

"A fish!" Acornpaw said.

"I'll catch it!" grinned Flamepaw proudly.

Flamepaw sat by the side of the river, his tail flicking with excitement. He stuck his paw in but he was too slow. The fish had already moved away.

"Mouse dung!" exclaimed Flamepaw, irritated.

"You did it wrong. The fish saw your shadow." meowed Acornpaw, a smile spreading across her face.

Flamepaw tackled her playfully and Acornpaw purred. The two locked eyes for a moment but were interrupted by a noise coming from the bush.

"What are you to doing?" asked Hawkflight as he walked out of the bush.

"Oh, I completely forgot. I am sorry Acornpaw but I have training with Hawkflight." sighed Flamepaw.

"Oh okay! Have fun!" mewed Acornpaw.

Acornpaw turned and made her way back to the vole she had buried. A warm feeling rose in her stomach.

Do I like Flamepaw?
